What is the penalty for improper use of turn signals in Vietnam?
For cars:
- According to the provisions of Point d Clause 1 Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP as amended by Point i Clause 34 Article 2 of Decree 123/2021/ND-CP, the act of stopping or parking without a signal to notify other vehicle drivers shall be fined from VND 300,000 to VND 400,000.
- According to Point a, Clause 2, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the act of changing lanes at the wrong place or without warning signals except for the case at Point g, Clause 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP will be fined from VND 400,000 to VND 600,000.
- According to the provisions of Point c, Clause 3, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the act of diverting without slowing down or not having a turn signal (except for the case of driving a vehicle in the curved direction of the road where the road does not intersect at the same level) will be fined from VND 800,000 to VND 1,000,000.
- According to the provisions of Point o Clause 3 Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the act of reversing without observing or without signals will be fined from VND 800,000 to VND 1,000,000.
- According to the provisions of Point d, Clause 5, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the act of overtaking a vehicle in cases where there is no signal before overtaking is punishable by a fine from VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000.
According to the provisions of Point a, Clause 7, Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the act of not paying attention to observing and driving a vehicle over the prescribed speed causes a traffic accident; stopping, parking, making U-turns, reversing, avoiding vehicles, overtaking, diverting, changing lanes improperly, causing traffic accidents, except for violations specified at Point a, Clause 8 Article 5 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP will be fined from VND 10,000,000 to VND 12,000,000.

- According to the provisions of Point a, Clause 1, Article 6 of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the act of not having a signal to overtake before overtaking will be fined from VND 100,000 to VND 200,000.
