In Vietnam, what is a bachelor's degree?
Bachelor's degree is a degree for those who have graduated from full-time undergraduate programs depending on the regulations of each country.
In Vietnam, a bachelor's degree is granted to university graduates in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, pedagogy, law, and economics (bachelor of science, bachelor of economics, bachelor of law...). The training period of a bachelor's degree program is usually 4 years.
Meanwhile, university graduates in engineering majors are awarded engineering degrees; university graduates in the architecture major are awarded "bachelor's degrees"; university graduates in the pharmacy major are awarded "pharmacist's degrees" or "bachelor's degrees".
In Vietnam, what is an engineering degree?
Engineer is a term that refers to the degree of a person who has received professional training in applied science; including engineering in design, analytical research, structural systems (architecture and construction), invention, technology, testing of machinery, materials, and some other majors.
Although many engineers are defined as someone tasked with improving constraints when implementing projects; In practice, however, an engineer plays a major role at the design and research stages to ensure the specific standard, regulation, safety, appropriateness and cost streamlining of that project in order to create close links between scientific discoveries and direct applications to humans (including living needs) and improve the quality of daily life).

The basic degree of an engineer is usually a bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering degree for those who have completed at least 04 years of post-secondary training in the corresponding major.
In some countries, the engineer is also known as a professional title delegated by a state management unit after competency tests, provided that the participant meets the minimum actual working time (usually two or three years).
The master's degree in engineering is awarded when the engineer completes at least two years of postgraduate training and ends with the results of examinations by the training council in scientific thematic reports, theses, or graduation projects.

According to the provisions of Article 15 of Decree 99/2019/ND-CP on the higher education degree system as follows:
Higher education degrees and certificates
1. Higher education degrees include:
a) Bachelor’s degrees, which are conferred on learners who have finished a higher education program in accordance with the law, met outcome requirements of Level 6 of the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework, and complied with specific and lawful regulations of their institutions;
b) Master’s degrees, which are conferred on learners who have finished a master's program in accordance with the law, met outcome requirements of Level 7 of the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework, and complied with specific and lawful regulations of their institutions;
c) Doctoral degrees, which are conferred on learners who have finished a doctoral program in accordance with the law, met outcome requirements of Level 8 of the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework, and complied with specific and lawful regulations of their institutions;
d) Equivalent degrees are those mentioned in Clause 2 herein.
2. Degrees of some special academic disciplines include medical degrees, dental degrees, traditional medicine degrees, pharmacy degrees, veterinary degrees, engineer degrees, architect degrees and some other degrees stipulated by the Government, which are granted to learners who have completed the training programs prescribed in Article 14 of this Decree.
3. Certificates of some special academic disciplines of the national educational system shall be awarded to learners who have completed training or refresher programs prescribed by Ministries and ministerial-level agencies or to candidates who have passed certification examinations in compliance with regulations on the award of certificates of the national educational system.
Thus, depending on the nature of training in each profession, university graduates will be awarded a specific type of university degree specific to the major.
Accordingly, in the higher education degree system in Vietnam, the validity of an engineering degree is equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
