According to Official Letter 7289/BGTVT-DTCT in 2022, ETC will be implemented as follows:
- In Notice No. 186/TB-VPCP dated June 27, 2022 of the Office of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh directed that by August 1, 2022 all toll-collecting highways must deploy ETC.
- In addition to the highways managed by the Ministry of Transport, there are currently 03 highways that are required to be implemented by the local competent authorities, including the routes: Bac Giang - Lang Son expressway by the Provincial People's Committee. Lang Son, Hai Phong - Ha Long - Van Don Expressway is managed by Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway is managed by Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, and Lien Khuong - Prenn Expressway is managed by Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee. physical.
In order to successfully implement the Prime Minister's direction and promote the effectiveness of the ETC system, the Ministry of Transport proposes the People's Committees of the provinces to do the following:

- Direct local news agencies and newspapers to strengthen propaganda on the content and timing of implementing fully ETC on highways, mobilizing vehicle owners on the road. The area supports the policy of implementing ETC and voluntary stamping of service participation cards, limiting payment of road user service fees by manual, one-stop method.
- Assign the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to be the focal point to coordinate with the People's Committees of the provinces, toll collection service providers and BOT investors to promptly solve difficulties and obstacles in the process of organizing the implementation of the project to ensure progress, synchronization and interconnection.

What are the regulations on ETC in Vietnam?

What are the duties on transferring manual toll collection to ETC in Vietnam?
According to Section 2 of Notice 186/TB-VPCP in 2022 on a number of tasks in the near future in the transition to ETC as follows:

- Assign the Ministry of Transport to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with relevant agencies in, formulating a draft of the Prime Minister's Directive to direct the work of affixing tags for means of transport, and submit it to the Prime Minister before June 30, 2022.
Thus, from August 1, 2022, all toll-collecting highways must implement the ETC system.
