- Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences are tested in multiple-choice format.- Literature is tested in essay format.

What Should Candidates Note for the 2023 High School Graduation Examination?
According to the content of Article 14 of the Examination Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, candidates for the 2023 High School Graduation Examination should note the following:
- Be present at the examination room on time. Candidates who are more than 15 minutes late after the start signal will not be allowed to take the exam for that session;- Not allowed to leave the examination room during the multiple-choice test duration;- For essay test sessions, candidates can leave the examination room and examination area after two-thirds of the test duration;- Must submit the exam paper along with the test paper and draft paper before leaving the examination room;- Exam papers copied from unauthorized materials brought into the examination room; having more than one answer for a single exam; exam papers containing writings by more than one person; parts of the exam written on draft paper or non-conformable paper will get 0 points;- Only allowed to bring into the examination room:+ Pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, and calculators without text editing functionality and no memory card;+ Vietnam Geography Atlases for geography exams (without markings or additional content);+ Recording and photographing devices with recording functionality only, without playback, viewing, and unable to transmit or receive information, sound, and image signals directly without other supporting devices;- Prohibited from bringing into the examination room: Carbon paper, erasers, alcoholic beverages; weapons and explosive substances; materials, communication devices, or devices containing information that could be used to cheat during the examination process and grading process.- In addition to registering for the exam at school, candidates can register online.

- 02 identical registration forms;- Original or certified copy from the original or copy issued from the original book or copy with the original for comparison (collectively called copy) of the high school academic transcript or Continuing Education high school transcript or test card for self-study learners in Continuing Education issued by the high school principal;- Valid certifications for preferential policies, incentives (if any), 02 photos of size 4x6 cm;
For Those who have completed the high school program but have not taken the graduation exam or have taken but not yet graduated from high school in previous years:
- Apart from the documents stipulated in point a, clause 1, Article 13 of the High School Graduation Examination Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT,- The registration file must include: Confirmation from the high school where the candidate attended 12th grade or where the candidate registered for the examination about academic ranking for those ranked poorly in academic performance according to point b, clause 2, Article 12 of the High School Graduation Examination Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT;- Copy of the Secondary School Diploma;- Confirmation of retained scores (if any) certified by the high school principal where the candidate took the exam in previous years.
For candidates who have graduated from high school:
- 02 identical registration forms;- Copy of the High School Graduation Diploma;- 02 photos of size 4x6 cm;
For candidates who have graduated from secondary education:
- 02 identical registration forms;- 02 photos of size 4x6 cm; copy of the Secondary School Diploma;- Copy of the Secondary Education Diploma, Transcript, or record of high school cultural subjects studied as stipulated by the Education Law and current guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.
