Based on the provisions at Point d Clause 2 Article 6 Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA regulating health standards for registration for admission to the People's Public Security schools as follows:

d) Regarding health standards: Should not suffer from chronic diseases; a balanced physique, no deformities; for males, a height of 1.64 meters or taller and weight from 48 kg or higher; for females, a height of 1.58 meters or taller and weight from 45 kg or higher; for students in KV1 areas (including students who enjoy KV1 priority policy in admission or students with permanent residence for 5 years in KV1 areas) and ethnic minority students, height and weight can be reduced by 2 cm and 2 kg respectively. For citizens who are currently or have completed their obligations in the People’s Public Security or military service, the height and weight standards follow current regulations on health examination for selecting citizens for service in the People's Public Security. If the police units and localities require higher height and weight standards than the general regulations, a report must be submitted to the Minister for decision.

According to the above regulation, the height requirements for admission to the People's Public Security school are as follows:

- For males: height of 1.64 meters or above

- For females: height of 1.58 meters or above

- Students in KV1 areas, ethnic minority students:

+ For males: height of 1.62 meters or above.

+ For females: height of 1.56 meters or above

Is It True That There Are Plans to Lower Academic and Height Standards for Some Candidates for Admission to the People's Public Security Schools?

At the Admission Counseling and Career Guidance Day on March 19, 2023, the Ministry of Public Security stated that it plans to lower the registration standards on academic performance and height for candidates who are ethnic minorities from remote, far, and particularly difficult areas.

To be specific, the academic requirement will be lowered from a good to a medium level; the height requirement will be reduced by 1-2 cm compared to before, from 1.64 meters to 1.62 meters for males and from 1.56 meters to 1.55 meters for females.

In addition, the Ministry of Public Security also announced that the multiple-choice admissions test for the regular university admission to the People’s Public Security will reduce the number of question codes this year.

Compared to last year, the test included four question codes CA1, CA2, CA3, CA4. All four had an essay part (Mathematics or Literature), a multiple-choice part on natural sciences, social sciences, but differed in the foreign language section. In which, codes CA1 and CA2 were for the English language, while codes CA3 and CA4 were for the Chinese language. This year, the test will only include codes CA1 and CA2.

2. Conditions for registration

Targets regulated at Clause 1 of this Article before submitting the registration dossiers must go through a preliminary selection to ensure the following conditions:

a) Regarding educational standards:

- Graduating from high school through formal education or continuing education. For those who graduate from an intermediate level but do not have a high school diploma, they must study and be recognized as completing the cultural subjects in the high school education program as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training;

- The target groups specified at Point c Clause 1 of this Article must have an academic performance from average or above during their high school years (according to the transcript conclusions).

Referring to Clause 1 Article 6 Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA regulating as follows:

Regular University and College Admission

1. Target Groups

a) Officers and soldiers in the Public Security payroll, who need to study to improve their qualifications, are sent by the unit or local public security to register for admission;

b) Citizens fulfilling their obligation to participate in the People’s Public Security with a working time of at least 24 months up to the month of admission, who have the desire and are sent by the unit or local public security to register for admission;

c) Students with permanent residence at the locality where the preliminary selection is registered, who are Communist Party members of the Communist Party of Vietnam or Union members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union;

d) Citizens who complete their obligation to participate in the People’s Public Security or military service in the People’s Army within no more than 12 months from the date of discharge decision to the admission date.

The educational standards for admission to the People’s Public Security schools are regulated as follows:

- Target groups specified at Clause 1 Article 6 Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA must meet the following educational standards:
