What are the criteria for principal coach (Grade II) in the physical education and sports sector in Vietnam?

According to regulations in Clause 2 and Clause 3 Article 5 of Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTD, the criteria for principal coach (Grade II) are as follows:

2. Qualifications:

a) Having a university degree or higher in a field suitable for physical training and sports;

b) Having a retraining certificate in professional tiitle standards for public employees in the physical training and sports sector.

3. Professional competence:

a) Mastering the policies and directions of the Communist Party of Vietnam, laws of the State related to physical training and sports, and the development of high-performance sports;

b) Having basic knowledge of theories and methods of physical education, sports training theories, techniques, tactics, and development trends of sports in the nation and worldwide; knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, sports biomedicine, nutrition, and regulations on doping prevention in training and competition;

c) Mastering and correctly applying the competition rules of the sport; the regulations and operational charters of national and international sports federations;

d) Being able to perform first aid for athletes in training and competition;

dd) Organizing cooperation with colleagues in professional activities to improve the quality of sports training;

e) Possessing basic informatics skills, proficiency in a foreign language, or knowing a minority language for public employees working in minority areas as required by the job position.

At the same time, the principal coach must perform the following tasks:

- Leading or participating in selecting and managing athletes; directly training techniques, tactics, physical fitness, psychology, and will for athletes; directing athletes under their charge to participate in sports competitions from provincial and industry levels upwards;

- Leading or coordinating to implement regulations on ensuring safety, hygiene in training, competition, and medical checks for athletes;

- Developing long-term and short-term training plans, programs, and lesson plans for the provincial, city, and industry sports teams;

- Proposing solutions to improve the quality of training;

- Participating in constructing scientific research or having practical initiatives to improve training quality, applied to training athletes;

- Coordinating and taking care of athletes' spiritual life, health, and ensuring nutrition according to the requirements of training and competition of the sport; rest and cultural study conditions for athletes;

- Paying attention to political ideology and moral qualities education for athletes; building a united athlete team;

- Forecasting the development potential of sports achievements and the likelihood of achieving competitive results for athletes under their charge.

What is the content of examination for promotion to the professional title of principal coach in Vietnam?

According to regulations in Article 9 of Circular 23/2018/TT-BVHTTDL regarding the content of examination for promotion to the professional title of principal coach in Vietnam, there are four tests as follows:

General Knowledge Test:

- Content:+ Opinions, directions of the Communist Party of Vietnam, policies, laws of the State on physical training and sports;+ State management over high-performance sports;

+ Strategic development orientations of the sector in high-performance sports during the current era of international integration;

+ General theories of the state, public administration, and laws regarding public employees fitting the professional title standard of a Principal coach (Grade II);

+ Test content on physical training and sports occupies 60%, politics, state management, and public employee law occupies 40%.

- Form: Written.- Duration: 180 minutes.

Professional Knowledge and Skill Test:

- Content: Testing and evaluating the level, capability, and proposing solutions to address practical issues aligned with the professional title standard of a Principal coach.- Form: Written.- Duration: 120 minutes/person.

Foreign Language Test:

- Content: Skills in reading comprehension, writing, listening, and interview (conversation) at level 2 (A2) according to the professional title standard of a Principal coach (Grade II) in one of the languages English, French, Russian, German, or Chinese as registered by the public employee.

- Form: Written and interview (conversation).- Duration: 90 minutes for the written test and 15 minutes per person for the interview (conversation).

Informatics Test:

- Content: Basic informatics skills according to the professional title standards of a Principal coach (Grade II).- Form: Multiple choice or practical computer-based test.- Duration: 45 minutes.

What are the eligibility requirements for taking the examination for promotion to the professional title of principal coach in Vietnam?

According to regulations in Clause 4 Article 5 of Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTDL, the eligibility requirements for taking the examination for promotion to the professional title of principal coach in Vietnam include:

- Having held the professional title of coach (Grade III) or equivalent for at least 09 years (excluding the probationary or internship period). If having an equivalent period, there must be at least 01 year (12 months) holding the professional title of coach (Grade III) until the deadline for registration to take the exam or consider promotion;

- During the time of holding the professional title of coach (Grade III) or equivalent, having directly trained and coached athletes achieving at least one of the following accomplishments: medals at the National Sports Games; national championships; national cups; youth championships in Asia, the world, or accomplishments as regulated at Point b Clause 4 Article 4 of Circular 07/2022/TT-BVHTTDL.
