What are the criteria for awarding the Party Badge in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 18 of Guidance 01-HD/TW in 2021, the criteria for Party members to be considered for awarding the Party badge are as follows:
- Party members who have been active in the revolution for a long time, have maintained their party membership, have full 30 years, 40 years, 45 years, 50 years, 55 years, 60 years, 65 years, 70 years, 75 years, 80 years, 85 years, 90 years of party age or more, they will be awarded the Party Badge.
- Party members who are seriously ill or die may be considered for awarding or posthumously conferring the Party Badge early, but not more than 12 months;
- Party members of 70 years, 75 years, 80 years, 85 years, 90 years old party or older, if seriously ill, may be considered for awarding the Party Badge early, but not more than 24 months as prescribed.
- At the time of consideration for awarding the Party Badge, Party members who have been disciplined about the Party have not yet been considered for gifting; after 6 months (for reprimanding discipline), 9 months (for warning discipline), 1 year (for dismissal discipline), if the defect is corrected well and recognized by the branch, it will be considered and awarded Party Badge.

Pursuant to Item 1.1, subsection 1, Section 3, Guideline 12-HD/BTCTW in 2022 stipulates as follows:
1. Awarding Party Badge
1.1- Process for awarding the Party Badge
a) Party members
Party members with full 30, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 years old party make declarations to request the Party cell; Party members who have lost the Party Badge shall make a report stating the reason for the loss of the Party Badge and request the branch; for a deceased party member, his/her family member shall make a declaration to request the branch cell for consideration.
Accordingly, there are types of Party badges as follows:
- 30 year old Party badge;
- 40 year old Party badge;
- 45 year old Party badge;
- 50 year old Party badge;
- 55 year old Party badge;
- 60 year old Party badge;
- 65 year old Party badge;
- 70 year old Party badge;
- 75 year old Party badge;
- 80 year old Party badge;
- 85 year old Party badge;
- 90 year old Party badge.
On the afternoon of February 2, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was awarded the 55-year-old Party badge at the Party Central Committee headquarters.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emotionally expressed, this is a deep memory and great honor for the individual.
How is the reward level attached to the Party Badge in 2023?
Pursuant to subsection 2, Section 4, Guideline 56-HD/VPTW in 2015 stipulating the reward levels attached to the Party Badge in 2023 as follows:

30 year old Party badge | The attached reward is equal to 1.5 times the statutory pay rate. |
40 year old Party badge | The attached reward is equal to 2.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
50 year old Party badge | The attached reward is equal to 3.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
55 year old Party badge | The attached reward is equal to 3.5 times the statutory pay rate. |
60 years old Party badge | The attached reward is 5.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
65 years old Party badge | The attached reward is 6.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
70 years old Party badge | The attached reward is 8.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
75 year old Party badge | The attached reward is equal to 10.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
80 years old Party badge | The attached reward is equal to 15.0 times the statutory pay rate. |
The bonus level attached to each type of Party Badge mentioned above is calculated according to the statutory pay rate:
- From January 1 to June 30, 2023: The statutory pay rate is VND 1,490,000/month. (Based on Clause 2, Article 3 of Decree 38/2022/ND-CP)
- From July 1, 2023: statutory pay rate is 1,800,000 VND/month. (Based on Clause 3, Article 3 of Resolution 69/2022/QH15).
What are the responsibilities of the Communist Party Committee for the awarding of the Party Badge in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 18 of Guidance 01-HD/TW in 2021, stipulating the responsibilities of the CommunistParty Committee for the consideration and award of the Party Badge as follows:
- Grassroots level of authority:
+ Carry out procedures for requesting the superior party committee to consider and decide to award the Party Badge, re-issue the Party Badge to a lost party member and posthumously award the Party Badge to a qualified deceased or deceased party member.
+ Organize the awarding of Party Badges to party members.
+ Revoke the Party Badge of a party member expelled from the Party, remove the name sent to the immediate superior committee of the party's grassroots organization.
- The immediate superior level of the grassroots party committee:
+ Consider and make a list of party members and request the Standing Committee of the provincial Party Committee and equivalent to consider and decide to award the Party Badge, re-issue the lost Party Badge and posthumously award the Party Badge to qualified party members.
+ Manage the book of giving the Party Badge of the party committee.
- Provincial Party Committee and equivalent:
+ Consider and decide to give the Party Badge to party members.
+ Direct, guide and inspect subordinate party committees to comply with the Central Government's regulations on awarding the Party Badge.
+ Manage the Party Badge that has been revoked by subordinates.
+ Annually review the work of awarding the Party Badge to draw experience and report to the Secretariat (via the Central Organizing Committee).
