TCVN 4391:2015: What are the regulations on hotel classification and rating in Vietnam?

Based on Section 3 of TCVN 4391:2015, hotel classification and rating regulations are as follows:

(1) Hotel classification

Based on the nature of business organization, hotels are classified into the following 4 basic types:

- Hotel;

- Resort Hotel;

- Floating hotel;

- Roadside hotel.

(2) Hotel rating

Based on location, architecture, equipment and facilities, services, managers and service staff, security, safety, environmental protection and food hygiene and safety, hotels are classified according to 5 grades: 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars, 5 stars.

What are the criteria for hotel rating in Vietnam?

Based on Section 5 of TCVN 4391:2015, the hotel ranking criteria are specified as follows:

Hotels are rated from 1 star to 5 stars according to the following criteria:

How to determine the minimum total score for each rate and class of hotels in Vietnam?

Based on Section 6 of TCVN 4391:2015, the minimum total score for each rate and class of hotel is specified as follows:

(1) Hotel

- 1-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 98 criteria) and achieving 75% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 35/47 points) for a 1-star hotel .

- 2-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (i.e. achieving 138 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (i.e. achieving 40/50 points) for 2-star hotel.

- 3-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (i.e. achieving 197 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (i.e. achieving 51/64 points) for a 3-star hotel.

- 4-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 257 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 62/77 points) for a 4-star hotel.

- 5-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 296 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 57/71 points) for a 5-star hotel Star.

(2) Resort hotels

- 1 star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 97 criteria) and achieving 75% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 35/46 points) for a 1 star resort hotel.

- 2-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (i.e. achieving 137 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (i.e. achieving 40/50 points) for a 2-star resort hotel.

- 3-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 184 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 54/67 points) for a 3-star resort hotel.

- 4-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 239 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 55/69 points) for a 4-star resort hotel.

- 5-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 270 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 54/67 points) for a 5-star resort hotel..

(3) Floating hotel

- 1-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 95 criteria) and achieving 75% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 31/41 points) for a 1-star floating hotel.

- 2-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 135 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 34/43 points) for a 2-star floating hotel.

- 3-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 181 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 46/57 points) for a 3-star floating hotel.

- 4-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 231 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 49/61 points) for a 4-star floating hotel.

- 5-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 258 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 42/53 points) for a 5-star floating hotel.

(4) Roadside hotel

- 1 star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (i.e. achieving 99 criteria) and achieving 75% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (i.e. achieving 32/43 points) for a 1-star roadside hotel.

- 2-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 139 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 37/46 points) for a 2-star roadside hotel.

- 3-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 187 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 47/59 points) for a 3-star roadside hotel.

- 4-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 238 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 52/65 points) for a 4-star roadside hotel.

- 5-star rating: achieving 100% of the required criteria (ie reaching 266 criteria) and achieving 80% of the criteria among the total recommended criteria (ie reaching 46/58 points) for a 5-star roadside hotel.
