When is Vietnamese National Flag flown?
According to Section II of the Regulations 974-TTg on the use of the national flag of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1956, the circumstances to fly the Vietnamese National Flag are as follows:
(1) Flying only Vietnamese National Flag:
- The national flag should be flown in meeting rooms of various government levels and associations during formal sessions.
- The national flag should only be flown outside on occasion of the following holidays:
+ New Year's Day (solar calendar),
+ Lunar New Year,
+ Anniversary of the General Election: January 6,
+ International Labor Day: May 1,
+ Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh: May 19,
+ Anniversary of the August Revolution: August 19,
+ National Day: September 2.
Other occasions requiring the flying of the national flag will be announced by the Government, the Administrative Committee of the region, province, or city.
- The national flag is displayed or carried to sites where there are mass meetings, demonstrations, or public mobilizations for collective actions, such as land reform mobilization, production competition, dam building, road construction, drought prevention, etc.
(2) Flying Vietnamese National Flag along with the national flags of other countries:
Vietnamese National Flag is displayed together with the national flags of other countries in the following situations:
- On the anniversaries of the National Day of a friendly or foreign country, Vietnamese National Flag and the flag of that country should be flown in the ceremony room,
- When welcoming the delegation of a foreign government, Vietnamese National Flag and the flag of that country should be flown at the reception venue (train station, port...) and the delegation's residence.
Receiving delegations from people's associations of friendly or foreign countries does not require the flying of the national flag.

How to fly the Vietnamese National Flag?
According to Section III of the Regulations 974-TTg on the use of the national flag of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1956, the proper way to fly the Vietnamese National Flag is as follows:
- When flying the national flag, ensure the star is not upside down,
- Flying Vietnamese National Flag together with the national flag of another country: from the perspective of someone standing in front, our flag should be on the right, and the foreign flag on the left.
- When it is necessary to fly Vietnamese National Flag along with the flags of multiple other countries, specific instructions from the Government will clarify the order of arrangement.
- When flying our flag along with flags of other countries, all flags must adhere to standardized templates, be of equal size, and be flown equally, avoiding flags being of different sizes or heights.
- Flying the flag and a portrait: when a portrait of the President is displayed alongside the national flag, the portrait should be lower than the flag or placed against a background of the flag beneath the star. In government agencies, only the portrait of the President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam should be regularly displayed.
How to Affix the Vietnamese National Flag to Automobiles?
According to Section VI of the Regulations 974-TTg on the use of the national flag of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1956, it is stipulated as follows:
VI. AFFIXING THE NATIONAL FLAG TO AUTOMOBILES
1) The national flag is to be affixed to the automobiles of Ambassadors and Consuls of Vietnam abroad.
2) When receiving or seeing off foreign government delegates, Vietnamese National Flag and the foreign flag should be affixed to the automobiles used for the delegates. From the front view, our flag should be on the right, and the foreign flag on the left.
3) Apart from the aforementioned cases, government and private automobiles are not to affix the national flag.
When receiving or seeing off foreign people's association delegations, the national flag should not be affixed to automobiles.
For specific cases not mentioned in these regulations, agencies will report to the Prime Minister's Office for consideration.
The above provisions outline the correct method for affixing the Vietnamese National Flag to automobiles:
- The national flag is to be affixed to the automobiles of Ambassadors and Consuls of Vietnam abroad.
- When receiving or seeing off foreign government delegates, Vietnamese National Flag and the foreign flag should be affixed to the automobiles used for the delegates. From the front view, our flag should be on the right, and the foreign flag on the left.

Which Holidays Are Employees Entitled to Take Leave in a Year?
According to Article 112 of the Labor Code 2019 specifying public holidays and New Year holidays:
Public Holidays and New Year Holidays
1. Workers are entitled to time off from work and receive full pay on the following public holidays and New Year holidays:
a) New Year's Day: 01 day (January 1 of the solar calendar);
b) Lunar New Year: 05 days;
c) Victory Day (April 30): 01 day (April 30 of the solar calendar);
d) International Labor Day: 01 day (May 1 of the solar calendar);
đ) National Day: 02 days (September 2 of the solar calendar and 01 consecutive day before or after);
e) Hung Kings' Commemoration Day: 01 day (March 10 of the lunar calendar).
2. Foreign workers working in Vietnam, besides the holidays specified in clause 1 of this Article, are also entitled to one traditional New Year holiday and one National Day of their country.
3. Annually, based on practical conditions, the Prime Minister will make specific decisions on the holidays mentioned in points b and đ of clause 1 of this Article.
Thus, workers are entitled to time off with full pay during the aforementioned public holidays and New Year holidays.
