According to the 2024 perpetual calendar, Tet Holiday 2024 will take place in February 2024 on the Gregorian calendar.

Tet Holiday 2024 on specific Gregorian calendar dates in February:

- New Year's Eve: on Friday, February 09, 2024 (Gregorian calendar);

- Tet Holiday's Day: on Saturday, February 10, 2024 (Gregorian calendar);

- Second day of the Tet Holiday: on Sunday, February 11, 2024 (Gregorian calendar);

- Third day of the Tet Holiday: on Monday, February 12, 2024 (Gregorian calendar);

How Many Days Off for Tet Holiday in Vietnam in 2024?

Based on Notification 5015/TB-LDTBXH 2023, officials and public employees are entitled to the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday from:

Thursday, February 08, 2024 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., the 29th of the last lunar month of the Year of the Cat) until the end of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon).

Employees will have the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday based on one of the three options decided by the employers as follows:

(1) Choose 01 day at the end of the Year of the Cat and 04 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

(2) Choose 02 days at the end of the Year of the Cat and 03 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

(3) Choose 03 days at the end of the Year of the Cat and 02 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

For students, the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday will be according to the regulations of each locality and school.

Refer to some Tet Holiday 2024 holiday schedules for students in some localities on the Vietnam Government Portal as follows:

Students in Ho Chi Minh City will have the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday from February 05, 2024 (the 26th day of the last lunar month) until the end of February 18, 2024 (the 9th day of the first lunar month).

Students in Hanoi will have the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday from Thursday, February 8, 2024 until the end of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (i.e., from the 29th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Cat until the end of the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon).

In Ha Tinh, students will have the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday from February 06, 2024 (the 27th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Cat) until the end of February 18, 2024 (the 9th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon).

In Dong Thap, preschool, general education, and continuing education institutions will be on holiday from February 08, 2024 (the 29th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Cat) until the end of February 14, 2024 (the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon).

In Lao Cai: The Tet holiday extends from February 03, 2024 until the end of February 18, 2024.

Thus, depending on the category of individuals, the duration of the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday will vary:

Public officials are entitled to a 7-day holiday from Thursday, February 08, 2024 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., the 29th of the last lunar month of the Year of the Cat) until the end of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (Gregorian calendar) (i.e., the 5th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Dragon).

Employees are entitled to a 5-day holiday as stipulated by the Labor Code, with 3 options available for employers to choose the holiday schedule in accordance with Notification 5015/TB-LDTBXH 2023.

For students, the Tet Holiday 2024 holiday will be decided by each locality and school.

How to calculate the salary for an employee working during the Tet holiday in Vietnam?

According to Article 98 of the Labor Code 2019, regulations on overtime pay and night work pay are as follows:

Overtime pay, night work pay

1. Employees working overtime are entitled to pay calculated according to the wage unit price or the real wage for the work being done as follows:

a) On weekdays, at least 150%;

b) On weekly days off, at least 200%;

c) On public holidays, Tết holidays, and paid days off, at least 300% excluding wages for the public holiday, Tết holiday, and paid days off for employees paid on a daily basis.

2. Employees working at night are entitled to an additional pay of at least 30% of the wage calculated according to the wage unit price or the actual wage of the normal working day.

3. Employees working overtime at night, in addition to the pay specified in clauses 1 and 2 of this Article, are entitled to an additional 20% of the wage calculated according to the wage unit price or the actual wage for working during the daytime on a normal working day, a weekly day off, or a public holiday, Tết holiday.

4. The Government regulates the details of this Article.

Hence, employees working during the Tet holiday will receive a wage of at least 300% not counting the wage of the public holiday for employees paid on a daily basis.

Additionally, employees working at night will receive an additional pay of at least 30% of the wage of a normal working day and 20% of the wage of a public holiday.

Thus, the wage for working on Tết 2024 is calculated as follows:

- Working during the day: Receiving at least 400% of the wage.

- Working during the night: Receiving at least 490% of the wage.
