Measures for Preventing and Controlling the Covid-19 Pandemic During the Upcoming Holidays Will Be Implemented?
What measures has the Ministry of Health required for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic during the upcoming holidays?
Based on Official Dispatch 311/BYT-KCB in 2023, the instructions are as follows:
- Implement plans for collecting and treating COVID-19 patients in the provincial area, specifically assigning the number of COVID-19 hospital beds to each unit to be ready to collect and treat patients with indications for hospitalization according to the principle of "on-site." Arrange personnel to monitor, care for, and treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients to detect severe conditions early and handle promptly to limit fatalities.
- Review and equip adequately with medicine stocks, medical equipment, supplies, and medical oxygen, ready to meet COVID-19 treatment needs when necessary. Continue to conduct refresher training on COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment guidelines for medical staff. Enhance consultations within hospitals and with higher-level hospitals to seek expert opinions, minimizing the transfer of patients to higher levels. For cases exceeding professional capacity, consultation must be done before transferring and ensure patient safety during transfer.
- Strengthen infection prevention measures at treatment facilities to minimize the spread of disease within hospitals, especially protecting high-risk groups, intensive care units, cardiology, dialysis, and surgery wards.
- For severe cases and suspected COVID-19 cases in hospitals, it is advised to perform Realtime RT-PCR testing to diagnose COVID-19 to avoid missing cases and let the disease spread (for cases where rapid antigen test results are negative but COVID-19 is still suspected).
- Provincial and tertiary hospitals treating COVID-19 should monitor and clinically evaluate severe COVID-19 cases admitted during this period and conduct sequencing or send for sequencing to assess severity and report to the Ministry of Health to consider revising professional guidelines.
- Daily data reporting on the COVID-19 Management System of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health, at cdc.kcb.vn.
