As of now, many provinces and cities have announced the 2024 Tet holiday schedule. In the academic year 2023-2024 timetable, several provinces have included the 2024 Tet holiday schedule for students at all levels.
According to Decision 3260/QD-UBND on August 5, 2023, the 2024 Tet holiday for students will start from February 5, 2024 (26th of the last lunar month) to February 18, 2024 (9th of the first lunar month).
In Hanoi, according to the notice about Tet holiday 2024 and National Day 2024 holidays issued by Hanoi City People's Committee, the Tet holiday 2024 holiday for students will start from Thursday, February 8, 2024, to the end of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (from the 29th of the last lunar month of Quy Mao to the 5th of the first lunar month of Giap Thin).
Therefore, due to the specific nature of the Tet holiday 2024 holiday schedule differing among provinces and cities, the Tet holiday 2024 holiday schedule for students in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi is as follows:
Students in Ho Chi Minh City will have Tet holiday 2024 holiday from February 5, 2024 (26th of the last lunar month) to February 18, 2024 (9th of the first lunar month).
Students in Hanoi will have Tet holiday 2024 holiday from Thursday, February 8, 2024, to Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (from the 29th of the last lunar month of Quy Mao to the 5th of the first lunar month of Giap Thin).
Tet holiday 2024 schedules for students in some other provinces are as follows:
In Ha Tinh, students will have Tet holiday 2024 holiday from February 6, 2024 (27th of the last lunar month of Quy Mao) to February 18, 2024 (9th of the first lunar month of Giap Thin).
In Dong Thap, preschools, general education, and continuing education institutions will have Tet holiday from February 8, 2024 (29th of the last lunar month of Quy Mao) to February 14, 2024 (5th of the first lunar month of Giap Thin).

What is the Tet holiday schedule for Vietnamese officials and employees?
According to Official Dispatch 8662/VPCP-KGVX dated November 3, 2023, Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs regarding the Lunar New Year holiday from February 8, 2024, to February 14, 2024, and the National Day holiday from August 31, 2024, to September 3, 2024.
Announcement 5015/TB-LDTBXH 2023 about the Tet holiday and National Day holiday in 2024 for officials and public employees and employees, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs has detailed the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
The Giap Thin 2024 Lunar New Year holiday is as follows:
Officials and public employees will have a holiday from Thursday, February 8, 2024 (29th of the last lunar month of Quy Mao) to Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (5th of the first lunar month of Giap Thin).
Private-sector employees will follow one of three options chosen by the employer:
(1) Choose one last day of the year Quy Mao and four first days of the year Giap Thin.
(2) Choose two last days of the year Quy Mao and three first days of the year Giap Thin.
(3) Choose three last days of the year Quy Mao and two first days of the year Giap Thin.
To be specific, the Lunar New Year 2024 will fall on the following days:

Vietnam: Will employees get paid for additional holidays after Tet holiday?
Based on the provisions of Article 113 Labor Code 2019:
Annual Leave
1. An employee who has worked for a full 12 months for an employer shall be entitled to fully paid annual leave as per the labor contract as follows:
a) 12 working days for those doing work under normal conditions;
b) 14 working days for minors, disabled employees, and those doing strenuous, toxic, or dangerous work;
c) 16 working days for employees doing particularly strenuous, toxic, or dangerous work.
2. An employee who has worked less than 12 months for an employer shall be entitled to annual leave proportionate to the number of months worked.

Article 115 Labor Code 2019 also provides:
Personal Leave, Leave Without Pay
1. An employee is entitled to fully paid personal leave and must notify the employer in the following cases:
a) Marriage: 3 days leave;
b) Natural or adopted child’s marriage: 1 day leave;
c) Death of a natural or adopted parent, natural or adopted parent of the spouse; spouse or natural or adopted child: 3 days leave.
2. An employee is entitled to unpaid leave for 1 day and must notify the employer in the following cases: death of paternal or maternal grandfather, grandmother; sibling’s death; parent’s marriage; sibling’s marriage.
3. Besides the cases specified in Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article, the employee can negotiate with the employer for unpaid leave.
Thus, to determine whether employees will get paid for additional holidays after Tet, it depends on the specific case:
+ If the employee takes a leave day that is defined as annual leave, they will be paid according to the labor contract.
+ If the employee takes a leave day for reasons specified in Clause 1 of Article 115 Labor Code 2019 and has notified the employer, they will still be paid.
+ If the employee takes unpaid leave as per an agreement, they will not be paid.
