The dissemination, posting of information on mass media regarding the State Funeral 2024 is stipulated in Article 9 of Decree 105/2012/ND-CP as follows:

1. Brief News Coverage
Before the official announcement from the Funeral Organizing Committee, mass media is only allowed to report briefly about the death. After the establishment of the Funeral Organizing Committee and the official announcement of the funeral organization, mass media can cover the death and post articles introducing the deceased.
2. Posting on mass media
a) Nhan Dan newspaper and central and local press agencies shall cover the State Funeral, including: Announcements, list of the State Funeral Committee, Funeral Organizing Committee; biography, photo of the deceased; national mourning protocol; notices about the visitation, memorial service, burial ceremony, and thanks from the State Funeral Committee;
b) The Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio shall document the visitation, memorial service and burial ceremony. The Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam Television, and Vietnam News Agency shall broadcast and air live the visitation, memorial service and burial ceremony.
According to the above regulation, after the establishment of the Funeral Organizing Committee and the official announcement of the funeral organization, mass media can cover the death, post articles introducing the deceased.
Prior to that, mass media is only allowed to report briefly about the death.
Information about the State Funeral 2024 will be posted on mass media, including:
(1) Nhan Dan newspaper and central and local press agencies shall cover the State Funeral, including:
- Announcements, list of the State Funeral Committee, Funeral Organizing Committee;
- Biography, photo of the deceased;
- National mourning protocol;

1. The State Funeral is organized at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi (if organized in Hanoi); the Funeral Home of Military Hospital 175 or the Funeral Home at No. 25 Le Quy Don, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (if organized in Ho Chi Minh City).
2. Burial at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi; Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery or cremation, electric burial, burial in the hometown or other local cemetery according to the family's wishes.
The State Funeral is organized at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi (if organized in Hanoi).
The Funeral Home of Military Hospital 175 or the Funeral Home at No. 25 Le Quy Don, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (if organized in Ho Chi Minh City).
How to hoist the flag at half-mast during the State Funeral 2024?
Based on Article 10 of Decree 105/2012/ND-CP, which regulates the period, protocol of mourning as follows:
Article 10. Mourning period and protocol
The State Funeral is organized for 02 (two) days. During this time, offices nationwide and Vietnamese representative offices abroad shall hoist the flag at half-mast, with a mourning band (with a size 1/10 the width of the flag, length according to the flag’s length, and the flag is hoisted only up to 2/3 the height of the flagpole, using a black cloth band to prevent the flag from flying), and no public entertainment activities are held.
The State Funeral is organized for 02 (two) days.
Decree 105/2012/ND-CP guides on how to hoist the flag at half-mast: The flag at half-mast with a mourning band, size 1/10 the width of the flag, length according to the flag’s length, and hoisted up to 2/3 the height of the flagpole, using a black cloth band to prevent the flag from flying, and no public entertainment activities are held.
Typically, the flag at half-mast is hoisted in a solemn place, ensuring aesthetics. The flagpole should be an independent pole, not attached to other poles such as electric poles, antenna poles, etc.; The flag must not be faded or stained; Indoor flags, flagstaffs’ length depends on the space, but must not touch the ground.
How is the visitation at the State Funeral 2024 conducted?
According to Article 14 of Decree 105/2012/ND-CP, the Funeral Organizing Committee arranges visiting delegations in the following formation:
- 02 (two) soldiers carrying wreaths at the front,
- Following them is the Head of Delegation, to the right behind the Head of Delegation is the officer leading the visit, followed by the delegation members in two rows.
The Funeral Organizing Committee organizes the reception and arrangement of delegations from foreign countries, diplomatic representatives, consular offices, representatives of international organizations in Vietnam, and other foreign agencies and individuals who wish to visit and sign the condolence book.
After the visitation, the Head of Delegation signs the condolence book. During the visitation, the military band plays the "Hon Tu Si" (Soul of the Martyrs).
