Based on the provisions of Article 41 of the Examination Regulations issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the calculation of the high school graduation score 2023 is as follows:
High School Graduation Score:
Including the scores of the exams that candidates take to be recognized for high school graduation according to the provisions at point a, clause 3, Article 12 of the Regulation issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, priority points, encouragement points (if any), and the average score of the entire grade 12 year; the score of each exam is converted to a 10-point scale to calculate the high school graduation score.
The high school graduation score for general education high school students is calculated as follows:
From 2023, Will the Higher the Score, the Lower the Priority Points?
Based on clause 4, Article 7 of the Regulation issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, it is stipulated as follows:
Priority Policies in Admissions
...
2. Priority according to policy subjects (according to Annex II of the Regulation)
a) The priority points applied to the group of UT1 subjects (including subjects 01 to 04) is 2.0 points and for the group of UT2 subjects (including subjects 05 to 07) is 1.0 points;
b) The priority points for other policy subjects (as stipulated in current legal documents) decided by the Minister of Education and Training;
c) Candidates who belong to multiple policy subject groups specified in points a, b of this clause will only receive the highest priority point.
3. The priority points stipulated in this Article correspond to the total score of 3 subjects (in the subject combination for admission) on a 10-point scale for each exam/subject (without multiplying by a coefficient); in case the admission method uses another scale, the priority points will be converted accordingly.
4. From 2023, the priority points for candidates scoring a total of 22.5 or above (converted to a 10-point scale and the total score of 3 subjects being 30) will be calculated as follows:
*Priority points = [(30 - Total score achieved)/7.5] x Priority points stipulated in clause 1, 2 of this Article”
Thus, the priority points applied to each priority subject will be implemented according to the aforementioned regulations.
Additionally, from 2023, the priority points for candidates scoring from 22.5 points will be calculated according to the formula Priority points = [(30 - Total score achieved)/7.5] x Priority points stipulated in clause 1 and clause 2 of Article 7 of the Regulation issued together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT.
Hence, candidates scoring 22.5 or more will have their priority points gradually reduced. When the exam score reaches 30 points, the priority points will be 0.
