Changes in Vietnam High School Graduation Exam in 2024

On September 20, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam (MOET) held a conference summarizing the organization of the 2023 High School Graduation Examination and implementing orientations and tasks for the 2024 Examination.

According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam regarding the Conference summarizing the organization of the 2023 High School Graduation Examination and implementing orientations and tasks for the 2024 Examination:

The 2024 High School Graduation Examination will remain stable, as in the period from 2020-2023, specifically:

- Regarding the orientations and tasks for the 2024 Examination, the Director-General of the Quality Management Department stated: The 2024 High School Graduation Examination will maintain stability in the organizational form and the exam model as in the previous period.

- However, the 2024 Examination will have some technical adjustments to prepare for the organization of the exams from 2025 onward.

Thus, the 2024 High School Graduation Examination will retain the same subjects and combined subject exams, but there will be technical adjustments to prepare for later exams.

Based on Article 3 of the Examination Regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDĐT, which stipulates the high school graduation exam subjects as follows:

Exam Subjects

The exam consists of 05 subjects, including: 03 independent subjects - Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Language; 01 combined subject of Natural Sciences (abbreviated as KHTN) including component subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology; 01 combined subject of Social Sciences (abbreviated as KHXH) including component subjects History, Geography, Civic Education for students following the general education program or component subjects History, Geography for students following the continuing education program.

According to the above regulation, the high school graduation exam subjects for 2024 are determined as follows:

- For candidates taking the Natural Sciences combination:

+ Mathematics

+ Literature

+ Foreign Language

+ Physics, Chemistry, Biology in one combined test.

- For candidates taking the Social Sciences combination:

+ Mathematics

+ Literature

+ Foreign Language

+ History, Geography, Civic Education.

- For candidates following the continuing education program at the high school level taking the Social Sciences combination:

+ Mathematics

+ Literature

+ Foreign Language

+ History, Geography.

Thus, candidates taking the 2024 high school graduation exam will complete the exam with the subjects mentioned above.
