3. Citizens serving in the Coast Guard and performing their duty in the People's Public Security are considered to be performing active military service.

Article 31 of the 2015 Military Service Law stipulates the standards for citizens to be recruited and perform their duty in the People's Public Security as follows:
Standards for citizens to be recruited and perform their duty in the People's Public Security
1. Citizens are recruited when meeting the following standards:
a) Clear background;
b) Strictly adhere to the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party, the laws of the State;
c) Sufficient health for active service according to regulations;
d) Appropriate educational level.
2. Standards for citizens to perform their duty in the People's Public Security are stipulated in Article 7 of the People's Public Security Law.
Citizens are recruited when meeting the following standards:
- Clear background.
- Strictly adhere to the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party, the laws of the State.
- Sufficient health for active service according to regulations.
- Appropriate educational level.
- Standards for citizens to perform their duty in the People's Public Security are stipulated in Article 7 of the 2018 People's Public Security Law:
+ Citizens with sufficient political standards, moral qualities, educational level, health, desire, and aptitudes matching the demands of public security work can be recruited into the People's Public Security.
+ Preference is given to outstanding students and graduates from academies, universities, colleges, vocational schools, and professional intermediate schools meeting the standards to be trained and supplemented into the People's Public Security.
What is the schedule for the 2024 health check-up for police duty?
Article 40 of the 2015 Military Service Law stipulates the health check-up for citizens recruited for military service and performing their duty in the People's Public Security as follows:
Health check-up for citizens recruited for military service and performing their duty in the People's Public Security
1. The Chairman of the District People's Committee decides to establish the health check-up committee at the proposal of the district-level health office.
2. The Head of the District Military Command issues orders for health check-ups for citizens eligible for recruitment; the Chief of the District Police issues orders for health check-ups for citizens eligible for performing their duty in the People's Public Security. The health check-up order must be delivered to citizens at least 15 days prior to the health check-up date.
3. The district health check-up committee organizes health check-ups for citizens eligible for recruitment and performing their duty in the People's Public Security; in necessary cases, it decides on clinical and non-clinical tests, including tests for drugs and HIV; ensuring accuracy and accountability for the military service health check-up results.
4. The health check-up period is from November 1 to December 31 annually. The health check-up period for recruiting citizens into military service and performing their duty in the People's Public Security for the second time as stipulated in Article 33 of this Law is decided by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
5. The health classification results must be publicly posted at the headquarters of the Commune People's Committee, agencies, and organizations for 20 days.
Thus, according to the above regulations, the health check-up period for the People's Public Security in 2024 is as follows:
- The health check-up period for citizens participating in police duty starts from November 1 to December 31, 2023.
The health check-up period for recruiting citizens into military service and performing their duty in the People's Public Security for the second time as stipulated in Article 33 of the 2015 Military Service Law is decided by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.
- The health check-up order must be delivered to citizens at least 15 days prior to the health check-up date.
- After the health check-up results, there will be an order to recruit citizens into military service and perform their duty in the People's Public Security once in February or March 2024.
If necessary for defense and security reasons, citizens can be recruited into military service and perform their duty in the People's Public Security for the second time.
