- From May 4, 2023, to 5:00 PM on May 13, 2023: 12th-grade students register for the national high school graduation examination online.
- Before May 13: Review and update information of students, learners (collectively referred to as students) who are in grade 12 on the sector's database (CSDL).
- From May 14-19: Review, verify, and correct student information (if any).
- Before May 22: Print the list of registered students in alphabetical order.
- From May 26-28: Complete corrections of student information (if any); hand over the list of registered students and Registration Form or Registration Document bag (for self-study candidates) to the Department of Education and Training (GD&DT).
- No later than June 7: Publicly announce cases of students not eligible to take the exam.
- June 28, 29, and 30: Conduct the examination.
- No later than 5:00 PM on July 15: Organize grading; Summarize grading work; Submit exam results data to the Ministry of Education and Training (GD&DT); Cross-check exam results.
- 8:00 AM on July 18: Announce the exam results.
- No later than July 20: Review and recognize high school graduation.

Method 1: Check the examination number on the Ministry of Education and Training's website
To check the examination number on the Ministry’s website, students need to follow 3 steps:
Step 1: Access the National High School Graduation Examination website of the Ministry of Education and Training at the address: http://thisinh.thitotnghiepthpt.edu.vn.
Log in using the citizen ID card (CCCD) or ID card (CMND) number ⇒ Pre-issued login code ⇒ Verification code (Captcha automatically generated by the system) ⇒ Click "Login."
Step 2: After successfully logging in ⇒ Go to the "Check" section ⇒ select "Check Admission Notice." The screen will automatically display all specific information about the student's national high school examination number for 2023.
Step 3: If the information is correct, students should note down the exam number to avoid forgetting and log out of the website.
Method 2: Check the examination number on the Admission Notice
The examination number is the sequence of numbers following the words "Examination Number," usually located right after the student's name. If the student forgets their examination number, they should carry the admission notice with them at all times.

Based on Appendix 2 issued with Official Dispatch 1515/BGDDT-QLCL, 2023 guiding the 2023 National High School Examination, the schedule for sending the admission notice to students is as follows:
- No later than June 18, 2023, the admission notice will be sent to students.
Additionally, the registration schedule for the 2023 National High School Examination is as follows:
- From May 4 to 5:00 PM on May 13, 2023: Students register for the 2023 national high school examination.
- From May 26 to the end of May 28, 2023: Hand over the list of registered students and Registration Forms or Registration Document bags (for self-study candidates) to the Department of Education and Training.
- No later than June 11, 2023: Assign examination numbers, arrange examination rooms by exam subject at the examination points.
From the registration deadline of May 13, 2023, to June 18, 2023, students will receive their admission notice within no later than 36 days.
