How many times a year is the Vietnam's National Assembly session held?
The National Assembly session is regulated in Article 1 of the Rules of Procedure of the Vietnam's National Assembly Session, issued together with Resolution 71/2022/QH15, as follows:
National Assembly Session
1. The National Assembly session is the main form of activity of the National Assembly. During the session, the National Assembly discusses and decides on issues within its responsibilities and powers as prescribed by law.
The National Assembly session can be organized continuously or in two or more phases.
2. The National Assembly holds regular sessions twice a year.
In case the President, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, or at least one-third of the total number of National Assembly deputies request, the National Assembly holds an extraordinary session to discuss and decide on issues within its responsibilities and powers, except for the content regularly presented to the National Assembly as prescribed by law.
3. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly provides guidance on the organization of the extraordinary session.
Thus, the Vietnam's National Assembly session can be organized continuously or in two or more phases.
However, typically, the National Assembly holds regular sessions twice a year.

Who are attendees of the Vietnam's National Assembly session?
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly Session, issued together with Resolution 71/2022/QH15, the invited attendees of the National Assembly session, who participate in the plenary session of the National Assembly, include:
(1) The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, the Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuracy, members of the Government, the Auditor General of the State Audit Office, and the heads of agencies established by the National Assembly who are not National Assembly deputies, are invited to attend the National Assembly session. They are responsible for attending the plenary session of the National Assembly when discussing issues related to their respective sectors or areas of responsibility.
The invited attendees specified in this paragraph are allowed to express their opinions on issues within their respective sectors or areas of responsibility if approved or requested by the President or Vice President of the National Assembly, who are assigned to preside over the session.
(2) Domestic honorary guests and international honorary guests are decided by the President of the National Assembly upon the proposal of the Secretary-General of the National Assembly. The Secretary-General of the National Assembly consults and reaches an agreement with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly regarding international honorary guests before reporting to the President of the National Assembly.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly considers the participation of domestic honorary guests in the plenary session of the National Assembly upon the proposal of the Secretary-General of the National Assembly; and considers the participation of international honorary guests in the plenary session of the National Assembly upon the proposal of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Assembly, to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and decision to be included in the agenda of the National Assembly session.
(3) Representatives of state agencies, central organizations of political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, economic organizations, people's armed forces units, and media agencies may be invited to attend public sessions of the National Assembly.
Based on the agenda of the National Assembly session, the request of the Chairman of the Council of Ethnicities, the Chairman of the Committee of the National Assembly, the head of an agency under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and the Secretary-General of the National Assembly, the list of invited attendees specified in this paragraph is decided.
(4) Citizens may be allowed to attend public sessions of the National Assembly. The Secretary-General of the National Assembly organizes the participation of citizens in public sessions of the National Assembly.
(5) The use of documents and seating arrangements for the invited attendees of the National Assembly session specified in paragraphs (1), (2), (3) above are determined by the Secretary-General of the National Assembly.

The documents serving the National Assembly session are regulated in Article 7, Section 1 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly Session, issued together with Resolution 71/2022/QH15, as follows:
- Official documents include documents belonging to the files of draft laws, draft resolutions, and projects according to the provisions of the law, as well as other proposals and reports related to the content of the National Assembly session, decided by the President of the National Assembly upon the proposal of the Secretary-General of the National Assembly.
- Reference documents include publications, specialized topics, reports, and research or translation products provided to National Assembly deputies to provide additional information about the content being considered and decided at the session, decided by the Secretary-General of the National Assembly. The Standing Committee of the Council of Ethnicities, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and the agencies under the Standing Committee of the National Assembly coordinate with the Secretary-General of the National Assembly in providing reference documents to serve National Assembly deputies at the session.
National Assembly deputies may request the Secretary-General of the National Assembly to provide other information and documents related to the content of the National Assembly session.
