Judicial Academy Announces Recruitment for the 25th Training Course for Legal Profession in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in 2023?
On February 21, 2023, the Judicial Academy issued Notification 166/TB-HVTP in 2023 regarding the recruitment for the 25th Training Course for the legal profession in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in 2023.
Based on Decision 3068/QD-HVTP in 2022, the Recruitment Plan for 2023 of the Judicial Academy issued on December 30, 2022, the recruitment target for the training course for the legal profession is 2,000 individuals.
According to Notification 166/TB-HVTP in 2023, the 25th Training Course for the legal profession in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in 2023 specifies the training program as follows:
- Training format: Credit-based training (36 credits)
- Training duration: 12 months
- Graduation certificate: Certificate of completion for the legal profession
- Training locations:
+ In Hanoi: Judicial Academy, Tran Vy Street, Mai Dich Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
+ In Ho Chi Minh City: Ho Chi Minh City Branch - No. 821 Kha Van Can, Linh Tay, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
- Classes:
+ Daytime classes from Monday to Friday
+ Evening classes from Monday to Friday
+ Daytime classes on Saturday and Sunday (excluding summer holidays, public holidays, Tet)
- Eligibility: Individuals with a bachelor's degree in law or higher

Based on Notification 166/TB-HVTP in 2023, the application and deadlines are stipulated as follows:
- Application documents: Each candidate submits 02 sets of documents (hard copies) including:
+ 02 Curriculum Vitae (according to the Judicial Academy's template);
+ 02 Admission registration forms with a photo (according to the Judicial Academy's template);
+ 02 Certified copies of the bachelor's degree in law or higher. For foreign degrees, a certificate from the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, or a document stating non-recognition of equivalent degrees is required;
+ 04 4x6 photos (with the candidate's full name, date of birth on the back);
+ 01 stamped envelope with the candidate's contact address.

+ End of March 21, 2023
+ For daytime classes from Monday to Friday: End of August 4, 2023;
- Application submission procedures:
+ Direct submission of application documents;
+ Postal submission of application documents.

What is the admission fee and tuition for the Legal Profession Training Course at the Judicial Academy?
Notification 166/TB-HVTP in 2023, based on Decision 1706/QD-HVTP dated December 28, 2021, of the Director of the Judicial Academy, states the admission fee and tuition of the Legal Profession Training Course at the Judicial Academy as follows:
- Admission service fee: 200,000 VND per candidate
- Tuition fee:
+ For courses held on weeknights and on Saturday and Sunday: 25,190,000 VND per trainee per course (Twenty-five million one hundred ninety thousand VND).
+ For courses held during business hours: 20,150,000 VND per trainee per course (Twenty million one hundred fifty thousand VND).
Candidates eligible for tuition fee exemptions and reductions as per the provisions of Article 2 of Decision 1706/QD-HVTP dated December 28, 2021, of the Director of the Judicial Academy must prepare and submit necessary documents when applying: (02 notarized or certified copies of the birth certificate + certificate, war invalid card, etc. Certificate/Diploma of completion of socially demanded training courses from the Judicial Academy).
What are the criteria to become a lawyer in 2023?
Pursuant to Article 10 of the Law on Lawyers 2006 stipulates as follows:
Lawyer standards
Vietnamese citizens who are loyal to the Fatherland, comply with the Constitution and law, have good ethical qualities, possess a bachelor's degree in law, have undergone lawyer training, have completed the apprenticeship period for law practice, and have health assurance for law practice can become lawyers.
Simultaneously, according to Article 11 of the Law on Lawyers 2006 stipulates the conditions for practicing law as follows:
Conditions for practicing law
Persons meeting the standards prescribed in Article 10 of this Law who wish to practice law must obtain a law practice certificate and join a bar association.
The criteria to become a lawyer are as follows:
- Vietnamese citizens loyal to the Fatherland, complying with the Constitution and law,
- Have good ethical qualities,
- Possess a bachelor's degree in law,
- Have undergone lawyer training,
- Have completed the apprenticeship period for law practice,
- Have health assurance for law practice.
Additionally, persons who meet the above standards wishing to practice law must obtain a law practice certificate and join a bar association.
