When Must 10th Grade Students Undergo Training During Summer Vacation?
Based on Clause 1, Article 13 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT, the regulations for training during summer vacation are as follows:
Training During Summer Vacation
1. Students whose year-round training results are evaluated as Not Achieved must undergo training during the summer vacation.
2. The form of training during the summer vacation is determined by the Principal.
3. Based on the form of training during the summer vacation, the homeroom teacher assigns training tasks for the summer vacation to the students and notifies their parents. At the end of the summer vacation, if the training tasks are evaluated by the homeroom teacher as completed (with a report on the process and results of completing the training tasks signed by the student's parents), the homeroom teacher will propose to the Principal to reevaluate the student's year-round training results. The reevaluated results are used to replace the year-round training results for class promotion consideration as per Article 12 of this Circular.
Thus, according to the regulations, high school students must undergo training during the summer vacation if their year-round training results are evaluated as Not Achieved.
At the end of the summer vacation, if the training tasks are evaluated by the homeroom teacher as completed (with a report on the process and results of completing the training tasks signed by the student's parents), the homeroom teacher will propose to the Principal to reevaluate the student’s year-round training results.
The reevaluated results are used to replace the year-round training results for class promotion consideration.

At What Level Must the Training Results of 10th Grade Students During Summer Vacation Be Evaluated to Advance to the Next Grade?
Article 12 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT stipulates as follows:
Advancing to the Next Grade, Reevaluation During the Summer Vacation, Not Advancing to the Next Grade
1. Students meeting the following conditions are allowed to advance to the next grade or be recognized for completing the secondary school or high school program:
a) Year-round training results (including reevaluation results after summer vacation training as stipulated in Article 13 of this Circular) are evaluated as Achieved or higher.
b) Year-round academic results (including reevaluation results of subjects as stipulated in Article 14 of this Circular) are evaluated as Achieved or higher.
c) No more than 45 days of absence in a school year (calculated based on the one-day education plan specified in the General Education Program, including both authorized and unauthorized absences, continuous or non-continuous absences).
2. Students required to train during the summer vacation shall follow Article 13 of this Circular; students required to take reevaluation tests for subjects during the summer vacation shall follow Article 14 of this Circular.
3. Students not meeting the requirements stipulated in Clause 1 of this Article shall not advance to the next grade or be recognized for completing the secondary school or high school program.

The training results during the summer vacation of high school 10th grade students must be evaluated as Achieved or higher for them to advance to the next grade.
What are the Criteria for Evaluating the Grades of High School 10th Grade Students for the 2023-2024 School Year?
Based on Article 9 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT, the criteria for evaluating the grades of high school 10th grade students for the 2023-2024 school year are as follows:
For subjects assessed by comments combined with scores, the semester average score (DTBmhk) is used to evaluate the student's academic results in each semester, and the yearly average score (DTBmcn) is used to evaluate the student's academic results throughout the school year.
The academic results for the entire school year are evaluated at one of four levels: Excellent, Good, Achieved, Not Achieved.
(1) Excellent Level:
- All subjects assessed by comments are evaluated as Achieved.- All subjects assessed by comments combined with scores have a DTBmhk and DTBmcn of 6.5 points or higher, of which at least 6 subjects have a DTBmhk and DTBmcn of 8.0 points or higher.
(2) Good Level:
- All subjects assessed by comments are evaluated as Achieved.- All subjects assessed by comments combined with scores have a DTBmhk and DTBmcn of 5.0 points or higher, of which at least 6 subjects have a DTBmhk and DTBmcn of 6.5 points or higher.
(3) Achieved Level:
- At most one subject assessed by comments is evaluated as Not Achieved.- At least 6 subjects assessed by comments combined with scores have a DTBmhk and DTBmcn of 5.0 points or higher; no subject has a DTBmhk and DTBmcn below 3.5 points.
(4) Not Achieved Level: All other cases.
*Note: Adjustment of Academic Result Evaluation Levels
If the semester or yearly academic result evaluation level drops by 2 levels or more compared to Excellent or Good levels due only to the results of a single subject, the academic result evaluation level of that semester or year will be adjusted to the immediate higher level.
Note: Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT takes effect from September 5, 2021, and follows the implementation schedule as:
- From the 2021-2022 school year for grade 6.- From the 2022-2023 school year for grades 7 and 10.- From the 2023-2024 school year for grades 8 and 11.- From the 2024-2025 school year for grades 9 and 12.
