According to the provisions of Article 8 Law on People's Public Security 2018 regarding the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security, as follows:

Obligation to serve in the People's Public Security

1. Citizens who fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security fulfill the duty to defend the Fatherland in the people's armed forces. Annually, the People's Public Security selects citizens within the conscription age to serve in the People's Public Security for a period of 24 months. The Minister of Public Security decides to extend the service period at the duty for non-commissioned officers and conscripts but not exceeding 06 months in the following cases:

a) To ensure readiness for combat;

b) While performing tasks of disaster prevention, disease control, rescue, and relief.

2. The procedure for selecting citizens to fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security is applied similarly to the selection of citizens for military service.

3. The Government of Vietnam stipulates in detail Clause 2 of this Article.

The period to fulfill the police service obligation in 2024 is 24 months. The procedure for selecting citizens to fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security is applied similarly to the citizens fulfilling military service at duty.

Article 40 Law on Military Service 2015 stipulates health check-ups for citizens called for conscription and fulfilling the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security as follows:

1. The Chairman of the District People's Committee decides to establish the Health Examination Council at the request of the district health department.

2. The Commander of the District Military Command issues an order for health check-ups for citizens in the conscription call; the District Chief Police issues an order for health check-ups for citizens in the call to fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security. The health check-up order must be delivered to citizens 15 days prior to the health check-up.

3. The District Health Examination Council organizes health check-ups for citizens in the conscription call and the call to fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security; if necessary, decides on subclinical tests, including drug and HIV tests; ensures accuracy and is responsible for the health check-up results for military service.

4. The health check-up period is from November 01 to December 31 annually. The health check-up for citizens fulfilling the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security for the second time as specified in Article 33 of this Law is decided by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.

5. The results of health classification must be publicly posted at the headquarters of the Commune People's Committee, agencies, and organizations within 20 days.

Thus, according to the above regulations, the health check-up period for the People's Public Security in 2024 is as follows:

- The health check-up period for citizens participating in police service starts from November 01, 2023, to the end of December 31, 2023.

The health check-up period for citizens called for conscription and fulfilling the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security for the second time as specified in Article 33 Law on Military Service 2015 is decided by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam.

- The health check-up order must be delivered to citizens 15 days prior to the health check-up period.

2. The standards for citizens called to fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security are as prescribed in Article 7 of the Law on People's Public Security.

Citizens are called for conscription when they meet the following standards:

- Clear background.

- Strictly adhere to the guidelines, policies of the Communist Party, and laws of the State.

- Enough health for service as prescribed.

- Appropriate educational level.

- The standards for citizens called to fulfill the obligation to serve in the People's Public Security, as prescribed in Article 7 Law on People's Public Security 2018 are as follows:

+ Citizens with enough political standards, ethical qualities, educational level, health, aspiration, and suitable talents for police work can be selected into the People's Public Security.

+ The People's Public Security prioritizes selecting excellent graduates from academies, universities, colleges, intermediate, and vocational schools with enough standards to train and supplement into the People's Public Security.
