What is the minimum passing score for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam?

Based on Article 3 of the High School Graduation Exam Regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the exam organization includes:

Examination Subjects

There are 05 exams, including: 03 independent exams in Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language; 01 combined Natural Science exam (abbreviated as KHTN) consisting of Physics, Chemistry, Biology; and 01 combined Social Science exam (abbreviated as KHXH) consisting of History, Geography, and Civic Education for students following the high school education program; or History and Geography for students following the continuing education program.

Additionally, based on Clause 1, Article 42 of the High School Graduation Exam Regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the recognition of high school graduation is as follows:

High School Graduation Recognition

1. Candidates who meet all the conditions to take the exam, are not disciplined with results canceled, and achieve above 1.0 point in all exams and sub-exams of the combined exams for graduation recognition, and have a total high school graduation score (DXTN) of 5.0 (five) points or higher will be recognized as high school graduates.

The national high school graduation exam in 2023 requires taking the following exams:

- Independent exams: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language;

- 01 combined Natural Science exam consisting of Physics, Chemistry, Biology;

- 01 combined Social Science exam consisting of History, Geography, and Civic Education for high school education program students, or History and Geography for continuing education program students.

Additionally, all exams and sub-exams of the combined exams for graduation recognition must score above 1.0 point. Therefore, the minimum passing score is below 1.0 point.

Accordingly:

- Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language must score above 1 point.

- In case of scoring below the minimum in any subject of a combined exam required for graduation, the candidate will not meet the graduation criteria and cannot apply for university or college admissions using that combination.

- If taking both combined exams, candidates can choose the higher scoring exam, which must not include any failing subjects, for graduation consideration.
