Where to Register for the high school graduation exam in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1, Article 13 of the high school graduation exam Regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the guidelines are as follows:
Registration for Exam
1. Place of Registration:
a) Candidates as specified in Point a, Clause 1, Article 12 of these Regulations register at the high school where they attend 12th grade;
b) Candidates as specified in Points b, c, Clause 1, Article 12 of these Regulations register at a location (referred to as the registration place) determined by the Department of Education and Training (DOET). The head of the registration place must fulfill responsibilities as specified in Article 60 of these Regulations.
2. Exam Registration Documents:
a) For candidates specified in Point a, Clause 1, Article 12 of these Regulations, the registration documents include: 02 identical Registration Forms; the original or a certified copy of the high school transcript, or the original or certified copy from the original register, or the certified copy accompanied with the original for comparison (commonly referred to as a copy) of the high school report card, or the continuing education high school report card, or the learning evaluation form for self-taught continuing education learners issued by the high school principal; valid certificates for priority, encouragement policies if any; a copy of the permanent residence registration book to benefit from priority policies related to the place of residence; 02 photos size 4x6 cm;
b) For candidates specified in Point b, Clause 1, Article 12 of these Regulations, in addition to the documents specified in Point a of this Clause, the registration documents must include: A confirmation letter from the high school where the candidate attended 12th grade or where the candidate registered for the exam regarding the academic performance classification for students classified as poor academic performance as specified in Point b, Clause 2, Article 12 of these Regulations; a copy of the lower secondary education diploma; a confirmation letter of preserved marks (if any) confirmed by the high school principal where the candidate took the exam the previous year;
c) For candidates who have graduated from high school, the registration documents include: 02 identical Registration Forms; a copy of the high school diploma; 02 photos size 4x6 cm;
d) For candidates who have graduated from secondary vocational schools, the registration documents include: 02 identical Registration Forms; 02 photos size 4x6 cm; a copy of the lower secondary education diploma, a copy of the secondary vocational school diploma; a copy of the academic record or transcript of high school cultural subjects as stipulated by the Education Law and the current guiding documents of MOET.
3. Time for Submitting Exam Registration Documents:
The time for submitting exam registration documents is stipulated in the annual guidance for organizing the high school graduation exam by MOET. Upon the deadline for submitting exam registration documents, if there are any errors, candidates must promptly notify the high school principal or the head of the registration place or the exam center head on the exam procedure day to make corrections and additions.
4. Organizing Exam Registration:
a) Candidates register for the exam according to MOET’s regulations and guidelines;
b) Candidates complete and submit the application for high school graduation recognition at the high school or the registration place according to the annual guidance for organizing the high school graduation exam by MOET;
c) The high school principal or the head of the registration place is responsible for guiding candidates in registering for the exam, collecting Registration Forms, entering candidate information, entering information on the academic results of 12th-grade candidates, organizing the review of registration documents, and announcing publicly the cases ineligible to take the exam as specified in Clause 2, Article 12 of these Regulations no later than 15 days before the exam; managing registration documents and transferring documents and registration data to DOET;
d) DOET manages candidates’ registration data and sends the data to MOET;
dd) MOET manages the national registration data.
Thus, according to the above regulations, the places to register for the high school graduation exam are:
- Candidates specified in Point a, Clause 1, Article 12 of the high school graduation exam regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT register at the high school where they attend 12th grade.
- Candidates specified in Points b, c, Clause 1, Article 12 of the high school graduation exam regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT register at a location determined by DOET. The head of the registration place is responsible for fulfilling duties as specified in Article 60 of the high school graduation exam regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT.
Vietnam: What papers does the high school graduation exam include?
Based on Article 3 of the high school graduation exam regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the components of the high school graduation exam are defined as follows:
Five exams are organized, including:
- 03 independent exams: Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Language.
- 01 Natural Science comprehensive exam (abbreviated as KHTN) including subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
- 01 Social Science comprehensive exam (abbreviated as KHXH) including subjects: History, Geography, Civics for students in the high school general education program, or subjects: History, Geography for students in the continuing education program at the high school level.
