What does the 2024 military service medical examination entail?

Based on the provisions of Articles 5 and 6 of Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, the military service medical examination is conducted in 2 rounds: Preliminary screening and detailed examination.

The 2024 military service medical examination is carried out in 2 rounds with the following contents:

Round 1: Preliminary military service health screening:

- Preliminary health screening is conducted by the municipal health station under the professional and expertise direction of the District Health Center.

- Based on the plan to select and call citizens for enlistment by the local Military Service Council, establish a list of subjects who are citizens scheduled for health check-ups for military service in the managed area;

- Organize preliminary health screenings based on the following contents:

+ Detect cases of insufficient physical health, deformities, and abnormalities and those with conditions exempting them from military service registration;

+ Gather personal and family medical history.

- Complete and confirm the personal medical history and information of citizens called for military service health check-ups following Section I of Form 2, Appendix 4, issued with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP;

- Establish a list of citizens with conditions listed in the Exempted Conditions for Military Service Registration per Table 3, Appendix 1, issued with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, report to the Municipal Military Service Council;

- Summarize, compile statistics, and report preliminary health screening results per Forms 2 and 5b, Appendix 5, issued with Joint Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BQP.

Round 2: Detailed military service health examination:

- The District Military Service Health Examination Council includes: doctors, medical staff from the District Health Center, professional staff from the Health Office, military medics from the District Military Command, and relevant units.

- Establish a list of subjects who are citizens scheduled for enlistment and have passed preliminary health screening in the managed area;

- Announce the time and location for the medical examination;

- Organize health examinations based on the following contents:

+ Physical exam: During the physical exam, the individual must remove hats, be barefoot, and not wear shoes (bare feet, no headgear): If male, they must remove long clothes and underwear, wearing only shorts. If female, they should wear long pants and a thin shirt.

++ Height measurement: The person being measured must stand upright, feet together, arms relaxed naturally, eyes looking straight ahead, with the line of sight parallel to the ground.

++ Chest measurement (for males): The measuring tape goes around the chest perpendicular to the body axis, passing through the nipples in the front and the lower edges of the shoulder blades in the back. The person being measured breathes normally.

+ Eye exam: The person reading must cover one eye with a hard card (not using hands) and both eyes must remain open (one eye opened behind the cover). The distance between the chart and the person's standing position is 5 meters.

+ Dental exam: Check for cavities, missing teeth, and oral diseases.
