Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 50 of the Vietnam Law on Military Service 2015, it stipulates:
Article 50. Policies for active duty non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers, demobilized non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers and their family
1. Regarding non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers during service in regular armed forces:
a) Provided promptly and sufficiently with conformable food, military equipment, medicine; provided with accommodation, monthly allowances, necessaries and cultural and spiritual needs according to characteristic and tasks of service; provided with incentives in holidays; provided with medical care according to the Vietnam Laws;
b) From the 13th month, active duty non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers may apply for leave under the regime; other irregular absence shall be regulated by the Minister of National Defense;
c) From the 25th month, active duty non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers may receive 250% of current monthly rank allowances;
d) Counted as a member of family when his/her family is allocated or adjusted an area of housing, residential land and/or farmland;
dd) Having the time duration on active duty included in working period of time;
e) Provided with preferential postage;
g) Provided with awards for good performance in combat, service or practice according to the Vietnam Law provisions;
h) Any active duty non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers who is injured or ill during the duty shall receive preferential regime according to the Vietnam Law provisions;
i) Covered by social insurance and medical insurance according to the Vietnam Law on social insurance and the Vietnam Law on medical insurance;
k) Any active duty non-commissioned officers/enlisted soldiers being members of disadvantaged households or students that receives loans from Vietnam Bank for Social Policies shall received a postponement of payment without interest according to the Vietnam Law provisions;
l) Provided with incentives in military enrollment.

Accordingly, citizens who go to military service are entitled to leave.
However, from the thirteenth month onwards, leave is allowed according to the regime.

Pursuant to Clause 1, Article 3 of Decree 27/2016/ND-CP stipulates as follows:
Article 3. Leaves of active non-commissioned officers and soldiers
1. From the 13th month on service, an active non-commissioned officer or soldier has an annual leave of 10 days (exclusive of the travel time) and receive allowances for travel cost under current regulations.
Accordingly, citizens who go to military service will be entitled to annual leave with a leave of 10 days.
At the same time, they are paid for trains, vehicles, and road allowances in accordance with current regulations.

Pursuant to Article 3 of Decree 27/2016/ND-CP which stipulates as follows:
Article 3. Leaves of active non-commissioned officers and soldiers
1. From the 13th month on service, an active non-commissioned officer or soldier has an annual leave of 10 days (exclusive of the travel time) and receive allowances for travel cost under current regulations.
2. For non-commissioned officers and soldiers who have studied in military or non-military schools or institutes for at least one year and have a summer vacation between two academic years, such vacation shall be considered period of leave and payment for travel cost shall be made as per current provisions.
3. If leave cannot be granted due to a combat situation or threat thereof or difficulty in travel, the leave will be converted into an amount of money. The payment for one leave day shall be equal to the daily meal allowance of a non-commissioned officer/foot soldier.
4. For non-commissioned officers/soldiers who have used up their annual leave, if their family suffer from natural disaster or a serious fire or their parents, parents-in-Vietnam Law; Vietnam Lawful fosterer; spouse; children or legally-adopted children pass away or they gain remarkable achievements during duty performance, they will be given a special leave of a period of no more than 5 days (exclusive of the travel time) and receive an allowance for travel.
Accordingly, non-commissioned officers and soldiers have taken annual leave according to the regime, but their parents who die are entitled to special leave.
Time not exceeding 05 days (excluding departure and return dates)
At the same time, they are also paid for trains, vehicles, and road allowances according to current regulations.
Do conscripts enjoy any other policies in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Article 5 of Decree 27/2016/ND-CP stipulating other policies that citizens who go to military service are entitled to as follows:
- They shall be exempt from postage when sending money, mailers or parcels and provided with 4 letter stamps/month of which the price is regulated by the Ministry of Information and Communications and monthly rank allowances in the same period.
- Non-commissioned officers and soldiers who are members of poor household or students who have taken loans from Vietnam Bank for Social Policies shall be eligible for an interest-free deferral of loan repayment during the service period under current regulations.
- Active non-commissioned officers and soldiers who satisfy standards for political quality, ethics, culture, health and age may sit the entrance exam as regulated by the Ministry of National Defense and shall be given plus points when sitting entrance examinations as currently regulated.
