(1) Preliminary screening at the Commune Health Station
- Health screening is conducted by the Commune Health Station under the professional and operational direction of the District Health Center.
- Contents of the preliminary health screening:
- Identify individuals with physical deficiencies, deformities, or diseases that are exempt from military service registration;
- Collect personal and family medical history.
- Health screening process:
- Based on the selection and conscription plan of the local Military Service Council, compile a list of individuals required to undergo the military service health check in the managed area;
- Organize the preliminary health screening;
- Complete and confirm personal medical history and information of the individuals called for the military service health check;
- Compile a list of individuals with diseases exempt from military service registration for reporting to the Commune Military Service Council;
- Summarize, compile statistics, and report the results of the preliminary health screening.
(2) Detailed health examination at the District Health Center
- Contents of the health examination:
- Physical examination and clinical examination of various specialties as per the prescribed criteria;
- If necessary, conduct laboratory tests to support the health conclusion as required by the Military Service Health Examination Council, including drug detection tests;
- Health classification.
- Health examination process:
- Compile a list of individuals who passed the preliminary health screening, who are required to enlist in the managed area;
- Notify the time and place of the health examination;
- Organize the health examination as per the prescribed contents;
- Arrange for HIV counseling and testing as per the Law on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control for individuals meeting the annual health standards for conscription as guided by the Minister of National Defense;
- Complete the health record as prescribed;
- Summarize and report the results of the military service health examination.
According to the above regulations, citizens must undergo military service health checks at both the commune health station and the district health center in two rounds: preliminary screening and detailed health examination.

What documents are required for the military service health check?
Pursuant to the regulations in Article 10 of Inter-Ministerial Circular 16/2016/TTLT-BYT-BQP, the requirements are as follows:
Requirements for citizens when undergoing military service health checks, preliminary screening, and health examination
1. Must present:
a) The health check or health examination order of the District Military Command's Chief Commander;
b) Identification card;
c) Relevant personal health documents (if any) for submission to the Military Service Health Examination Council or the Preliminary Health Check Team.
2. Do not consume alcohol, beer, or stimulants.
3. Comply with the rules of the health check area.
4. Prohibit actions exploiting the health check process to avoid military service.
According to the above regulations, when citizens undergo the military service health check, they must present the following documents:

- How to examine: Examine each person in a well-lit place; the person being examined should bend over, self-spread the anus, and strain hard.
