On March 3, the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) held a summary of university and college admissions in Preschool Education for the year 2022 and deployed the admissions work for the year 2023. The timeline for registration and adjustment of admission options is as follows:
From July 5 to 5 PM on July 25, candidates will register and adjust admission options. There is no limit to the number of times preferences can be adjusted within this timeframe.
The results of the application review will be announced on:
- 5 PM on August 14, schools will complete the announcement of candidates who passed the first round.
- 5 PM on August 30, candidates must complete online enrollment confirmation for the first round on the System.
According to the 2023 admission plan (draft) of the MoET, a few key timelines to note in the 2023 admission season are as follows:
- From May 30 to 5 PM on June 20: this is the time for candidates, Departments of Education and Training, and receiving points to review high school academic results (transcripts) on the System.
- From July 1 to July 4: a practice run for the online registration and payment of admission service fees (admission fees) will be conducted on the System.
- From the date candidates register for the Vietnam high school graduation exam until 5 PM on July 25: this is the timeframe for reviewing, correcting errors, and confirming candidates' priority information policies.
- Before 5 PM on July 25: training institutions must complete updating pre-admission results, specialized assessment results, independent evaluation results, foreign language certificates (if any), and results of talent exams.
- From the date candidates register for the Vietnam high school graduation exam until October 30: schools and Departments of Education and Training of cities and provinces will support candidates in registering for the first round of online admissions.
Regarding the timeline for direct admission:
- Until 5 PM on June 30: candidates must complete the submission of direct admission and priority application dossiers to the schools.
- July 5: training institutions must complete the direct admission review and announce the results to candidates; update the list of candidates admitted by direct admission on the System.
- From July 5 to 5 PM on August 15: this is the timeframe to complete direct admission confirmations; confirming online enrollment on the System (if any).
Regarding the timeline for early admissions:
- Until 5 PM on July 4: schools must complete the early admission review and announce results to candidates to register on the System. Update the list of candidates eligible for early admissions on the System.
Regarding the timeline for application registration on the system:
- From July 5 to July 11: Departments of Education and Training will provide additional accounts for candidates (who have already graduated from high school, intermediate level) who do not have a registration account on the System.
- From July 5 to 5 PM on July 25: candidates will register and adjust admission options (unlimited times) within the specified timeframe.
- July 20: the MoET will announce the minimum quality assurance threshold for teacher training and health sector training programs with professional certification.
- 5 PM on July 22: schools must complete adjustments and announce the acceptance scores on the System and the training institution's electronic information page for teacher training and health sectors (if any).
- From July 26 to 5 PM on August 5: this is the time for online enrollment fee payments.
Regarding the timeline for application review and preference processing:
- From August 9 to 5 PM on August 12: training institutions will download data and information for application review; high school graduation exam scores; high school academic results on the System; scores of various exams (if any) and organize the review. At the same time, the Department of Higher Education, the Information Technology Department will process preferences on the System to determine the highest preference among the preferences that candidates qualify for admission.
Regarding the timeline for registration and supplemental admission:
- From September 1: training institutions will announce additional enrollment.
- From October to December, training institutions will conduct subsequent admission rounds and update the list of admitted candidates and their enrollment according to regulations.

How many methods are there for university admissions in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1, Article 6 of the Regulation on university admissions, Preschool Education college admissions issued with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDĐT provides the following:
Admission methods:
1. The training institution decides one or multiple methods of admission (exam, review, or a combination of both), applying generally to the training institution or specifically to certain programs, sectors, fields, and forms of training. A program or training sector may use multiple admission methods simultaneously.
Currently, schools are able to choose their admission methods proactively.
Some current admission methods include:
- Review based on the results of the Vietnam high school graduation exam.
- Transcripts review.
- Review based on the results of private exams.
- Direct admission, priority.
- Review for candidates with international certificates...
Who are the participants in the 2023 Vietnam high school graduation exam?
Based on the provisions of Article 12 of the Examination Regulations issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDĐT, participants in the 2023 Vietnam high school graduation exam include:
- Individuals who have completed the high school program in the year the exam is held.
- Individuals who have completed the high school program but have not taken the high school graduation exam or have taken but not passed the exam in previous years.
- Individuals who have a High School Graduation Certificate, individuals who have a Secondary Level Graduation Certificate taking the exam to use the results for college admission registration.
- Some other special cases as decided by the Minister of Education and Training.
