What are the regulations on technical requirements showing the content elements of national topographic maps at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000?

In subsection 2, Section II, National Technical Regulations on National Topographic Maps 1:50,000, 1:100,000 promulgated together with Circular 06/2022/TT-BTNMT of Vietnam on national technical regulations on national topographic maps at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000 promulgated by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, providing for technical requirements showing the contents of the national topographic map at the scale 1:50,000, 1:100,000 specifically as follows:

- Contents of national topographic maps at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000 are shown with corresponding symbols according to the model of national topographic map symbols at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000 specified in Article 1 of this Decree. 3 Part II of this National Technical Regulation.

- The accuracy of representation of map content elements must ensure the provisions of Article 4, Part I of this National Technical Regulation.

- Each geographical feature is represented on the national topographic map at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000 by the following symbols:

+ Shown by the symbol according to the scale when the linear geographical features have a width of 25 m or more at the scale of 1:50,000 and 50 m or more at the scale of 1: 100,000; for geographical features in the form of regions, the principle of showing by symbols according to the scale is specified in detail for each group of map data;

+ Shown by the symbol half according to the scale when the linear features have a width of less than 25 m for the scale 1:50,000 and less than 50 m for the scale 1: 100,000;

+ Represented by non-scale symbols for geographical features that cannot be drawn to scale;

+ Expressed by explanatory notes when it is necessary to explain the properties of the geographical object. Explanatory notes are specified in Appendix B of this National Technical Regulation.

- Content elements must be presented in parallel with the map frame.

+ Unscaled symbols except for non-scale house symbols and symbols representing related geographical features;

+ Name of population, name of administrative unit;

+ Note the height of the elevation point, note the depth of the depth point, the notes to explain;

+ Names of features and explanatory notes;

+ Symbols represent the distribution of vegetation and soil matter.

- Other symbols and notes are arranged in the direction of the feature, the letters and numbers are facing the North. Note the height of the contour line, the first line of the depth line must be towards the higher elevation, and the first letter of the letter should be directed to the North. Notes that cannot be arranged in the direction of the terrain shall be arranged parallel to the southern frame of the map.

- Specify the symbol center position

+ Symbols have basic geometry: the symbol center is the center of those basic shapes;

+ Symbols with a bottom line: the center of the symbol is the midpoint of the bottom line;

+ Symbols with square feet or round dots, circles at the feet: the center of the symbol is the top of the right angle at the foot or the center of the dot at the foot;

+ Symbols are empty: the center of the symbol is in the middle of the legs;

+ Linear symbol: the center of the symbol is the center axis of the symbol;

+ Symbols in the form of letters: the center of the symbol is the foot of the first letter.

- When using a symbol to accurately represent the location of a geographical feature, the center of the symbol must coincide with the center of the object.

- When many geographical features are close together, it is required to accurately and accurately represent the geographical features with higher priority and the geographical features with higher azimuth significance. Features with lower priority show breaks or give focus to features with higher priority. Specify the priority of geographical features when shown on national topographic maps at a ratio of 1:50,000 and 1:100,000, specifically as follows:

+ For independent geographical objects, priority is shown in the following order: national measurement points; geographical objects have higher azimuth meaning, more solid material;

+ For linear geographical features, priority is given in the following order: railways, roads (from highways, national highways to provincial roads, district roads, other roads), water coastlines, land use boundaries land use, vegetation boundaries;

+ In special cases, it is allowed to move the symbol by 0.2 mm on the map but must ensure compliance with the priority of geographical features.

- When the symbols intersect, the symbol with the upper spatial position or higher priority order is fully displayed, the lower symbol interrupts to not intersect the symbol above.

- The symbols are not to scale with the center in the map piece, the part that extends out of the inner frame not more than 1/4 of the symbol is drawn outside the frame for a complete representation. If the center is on the inner frame line, it must be shown on both adjacent map pieces, the frame line stops at 0.2 mm from the symbol.

- Principles of displaying the names of geographical objects on the map

+ Display the name of the geographical object according to the name already in the database of places;

+ When the name of the geographical object is not available or has changed compared to the database of place names, it must be investigated and collected according to legal documents of the competent authority and verified in the field;

+ Foreign place names (Laos, Cambodia, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines) are shown according to the United Nations' Latin transcription principles. Particularly for Chinese place names, note the Sino-Vietnamese transliteration for places familiar to Vietnamese and put that name in parentheses, below or to the right of the official name.

+ When displaying the names of geographical objects, priority is given to the names of large, important, famous or directional objects. If the tolerance of the map does not allow the full representation of the names of the geographical features, or if fully displayed, the annotation affects other content and the readability of the map, common noun abbreviation notes can be used. The abbreviations of common nouns comply with the provisions of Appendix C of this National Technical Regulation;

+ Geographical features with a wide distribution area show names within the distribution range of that geographical feature and can be repeated with appropriate distances and aesthetics;

+ Linear features show repeated names with distances from 10 cm to 15 cm;

+ Geographic features located on more than one map piece are shown to have names on all the pieces when the map content tolerance allows. As for the residential name on 2 or more pieces, the main residential name in the more densely populated piece is shown, the remaining piece is noted that the residential name is repeated with 2/3 of the font size specified in the symbol.

What are the regulations on the content of the group of mathematical basis classes in the national topographic map at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000?

As for the provisions on the content of the group of mathematical basis classes in the national topographic maps at the scale 1:50,000 and 1:100,000, then in subsection 2, Section II, the National Technical Regulation on National Topographic Maps 1:50,000, 1:100,000 promulgated together with Circular 06/2022/TT-BTNMT of Vietnam on national technical regulations on national topographic maps at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:100,000 issued by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment specifying as follows:

- The group of mathematical basis classes shows on the map the contents of the map projection grid, the segment difference, the map scale, the coordinate points, the elevation points, the national gravity points within the map fragment, The contents presented outside the map fragment frame, specifically as follows:

+ The map projection grid is shown on the map by the grid of perpendicular coordinates, geographical coordinates. Shows the perpendicular coordinate grid with a density of 2x2 cm and the perpendicular coordinate grid of the adjacent zone if the map piece lies at the boundary of the projection zone; Express the geographical coordinate grid according to the density of 1'x1' at the position between the inner frame and the outer frame according to the form in Appendix D and E of this National Technical Regulation;

+ Each piece of national topographic map at 1:50,000 scale and 1:100,000 scale must have the full name of the map piece and the map fragment's name. Versioning of map pieces shall comply with the provisions of Article 1 of this Part. The name of the map piece is derived from the name of the town or the name of the largest settlement contained in the map fragment. If there is no residential area, choose the name of the famous feature or feature that occupies the largest or highest area in the map piece. For pieces of national topographical maps without mainland or islands, floating flats or sunken areas, or with but no names, the name of the piece shall not be shown, but only the title of the fragment;

+ The scale of the map is shown below the male frame according to the prescribed font size, together with the corresponding scale;

+ The frame in the map piece limits the standard size of the map piece as prescribed at Point 1.4, Article 1 of this Part. When making a map, in the case that the mainland (or Vietnamese territory) occupies only about 1/5 of the area of a piece or less, it is allowed to insert the piece into the adjacent map piece if this area is connected to that piece of map. The adjacent map piece is allowed to expand the frame size (called frame breaking). This extended frame line must take longitude or even parallel of latitude up to 01' as the limit for the map piece. For the broken map pieces, the number of the main piece shall be recorded first, the number of the auxiliary piece shall be recorded later;

+ For the frame-breaking piece located between two zones or two belts, the frame-breaking piece shall add the number of zones and belts;

+ Notes in the inner frame include a note of the name of the administrative unit next to the frame, the boundary segment and the geographical coordinates in the four corners of the frame, expressed in minutes. In addition, the distance in kilometers from the discontinuity of a railway, highway, national highway, or provincial road in the map frame to the nearest station or to the nearest population center or to the most prominent directional object. In case the border map piece with the adjacent piece doesn't match, specifically note the content of the border map that doesn't match at that boundary part;

+ Elements presented outside the frame include: piece name, thin version, country name of frame corner, name of province in frame corner, name of district in frame corner, patch table, symbol explanation, map scale, equidistant elevation degrees, regular elevation, depth contour, scale, slope ruler, male frame notes, magnet deviation angle diagram. Notes on the southern frame in the Southeast corner under the outer frame include: investor's name, establishment method, year of establishment, establishment unit, coordinate reference system information, elevation system, axis meridian; for printed maps there is more information about the printing organization and the year the map was printed.

- Symbols, detailed technical requirements showing the content of the group of mathematical basis classes of the national topographic map at a ratio of 1:50,000, 1:10,000 respectively specified in Appendix B, Appendix D and Appendix E of this National Technical Regulation.
