How to assess high school students' learning results in Vietnam in 2024 for 10th and 11th-grade students?

Pursuant to Article 9 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT stipulating the assessment and classification of learning results each semester and throughout the school year for 10th and 11th-grade students as follows:

For subjects assessed by a combination of comments and scores, the average score per subject per semester (DTBmhk) is used to evaluate the students' performance for each semester, and the average score per subject per year (DTBmcn) is used to evaluate the students' performance for the entire school year.

The learning results of students for each semester and the entire school year is evaluated according to one of the four levels: Good, Fair, Pass, and Fail, as follows:

Evaluation Criteria

Good 

+ All subjects assessed by comments are evaluated at Pass.

+ All subjects assessed by a combination of comments and scores have a DTBmcn of 6.5 or higher, with at least 6 subjects having a DTBmcn of 8.0 or higher

Fair 

+ All subjects assessed by comments are evaluated at Pass.

+ All subjects assessed by a combination of comments and scores have a DTBmcn of 5.0 or higher, with at least 6 subjects having a DTBmcn of 6.5 or higher.

Pass 

+ No more than 1 subject assessed by comments is evaluated at Fail.

+ At least 6 subjects assessed by a combination of comments and scores have a DTBmcn of 5.0 or higher; no subject has a DTBmcn below 3.5.

Fail

All other cases.

Note: If the assessment result for the semester is downgraded by 2 levels or more compared to the Good and Fair levels only due to the results of a single subject, the assessment result for that semester or the entire school year will be adjusted to the adjacent higher level.

Pursuant to Article 13 of the Regulations on Assessment and Classification of Secondary School and High School Students issued with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT as amended by Clauses 5 of Article 1 and Clause 3 of Article 2 of Circular 26/2020/TT-BGDDT which stipulates the latest assessment and classification of high school students for 12th-grade students in 2024 as follows:

Evaluation Criteria

Excellent 

+ The average score of all subjects is 8.0 or higher, with the average score of 1 of the 3 subjects Math, Literature, Foreign Language being 8.0 or higher; for specialized school students, the average score of the specialized subject must be 8.0 or higher;

+ No subject has an average score below 6.5;

+ Subjects assessed by comments are rated Pass..

Good

+ The average score of all subjects is 6.5 or higher, with the average score of 1 of the 3 subjects Math, Literature, Foreign Language being 6.5 or higher; for specialized school students, the average score of the specialized subject must be 6.5 or higher;

+ No subject has an average score below 5.0;

+ Subjects assessed by comments are rated Pass.

Average 

+ The average score of all subjects is 5.0 or higher, with the average score of 1 of the 3 subjects Math, Literature, Foreign Language being 5.0 or higher; for specialized school students, the average score of the specialized subject must be 5.0 or higher;
 
+ No subject has an average score below 3.5;
 
+ Subjects assessed by comments are rated Pass. 

Weak 

All other cases

However, if the DTBcn reaches the respective levels of Excellent, Good as mentioned above but due to the result of a single subject being lower than the level's requirement, the learning results is downgraded, adjustments are made as follows:

+ If the DTBcn reaches the Excellent level but due to the result of a single subject drops to the Average level, it is adjusted to the Good level.

+ If the DTBcn reaches the Excellent level but due to the result of a single subject drops to the Weak level, it is adjusted to the Average level.

+ If the DTBcn reaches the Good level but due to the result of a single subject drops to the Weak level, it is adjusted to the Average level.

+ If the DTBcn reaches the Good level but due to the result of a single subject drops to the Poor level, it is adjusted to the Weak level.

Guidelines for Grading High School Students' Conduct in 2024?

The guidelines for grading high school students' conduct for 2024 are as follows:

(1) Grading the conduct for 10th and 11th-grade students according to point b, clause 2, Article 8 of the Regulation enclosed with Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT as follows:

Good 

Semester II is evaluated as Good, Semester I is evaluated at least at Fair

Fair 

Semester II is evaluated as Fair, Semester I is evaluated at least at Pass; Semester II is evaluated as Pass, Semester I is evaluated as Good; Semester II is evaluated as Good, Semester I is evaluated at Pass or Fail.

Pass 

Semester II is evaluated as Pass, Semester I is evaluated at Fair, Pass, or Fail; Semester II is evaluated as Fair, Semester I is evaluated as Fail.

Fail

All other cases.

(2) Grading the conduct for 12th-grade students according to Article 4 of the Regulation enclosed with Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDDT as follows:

Evaluation Criteria

Excellent 

+ Strictly adhere to school regulations; comply with laws, and regulations on social order, safety, and traffic safety; actively participate in combating negative actions, crime, and social evils;

+ Always respect teachers and elders; love and help younger students; be conscious in building a collective, united, and trusted by friends;

+ Actively cultivate moral qualities, live a healthy, simple, and humble life; care for and help the family;

+ Fully complete study tasks, have a sense of striving, be honest in life and study;

+ Actively exercise, maintain hygiene and protect the environment;

+ Participate in all educational activities and activities organized by the school; actively participate in activities of the Young Pioneers Organization and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union;

+ Have proper attitudes and behaviors in cultivating ethics and lifestyle following the content of the Civic Education subject.

 

Good 

 Fulfill the requirements for students graded as Excellent in conduct but do not reach the level of Excellence; have shortcomings but promptly correct them after feedback from teachers and friends

Average 

Have several shortcomings in fulfilling the regulations for students graded as Excellent in conduct but the level is not serious; after being reminded and educated, they have accepted and corrected them but improvement is slow.  

Weak 

Do not meet the standards for the average or have one of the following shortcomings:

+ Have serious violations or repeatedly violate regulations for students graded as Excellent in conduct, being educated but not corrected;

+ Be disrespectful, insult dignity and honor, infringe upon the physical body of teachers and school staff; insult the dignity and honor of classmates or others;

+ Cheat in study, tests, exams;

+ Fighting, causing disorder, and security in school or society; violate traffic safety; damage public property or property of others
