Currently, checking health insurance card information is carried out through the following methods:

What information does the health insurance card have according to current regulations?
Pursuant to Article 12 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, the health insurance card currently contains the following information:
- Personal information of the health insurance participant, including: Full name; gender; date of birth; address of residence or workplace.
- Health insurance benefits as stipulated in Article 14 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP.
- The validity period of the health insurance card.
- The initial health examination and treatment registration location of the health insurance.
- The period of continuous participation in health insurance for 5 years or more for individuals who have to co-pay examination and treatment fees.
Continuous health insurance participation time is the usage time recorded on the next health insurance card consecutive to the previous one; interruptions are allowed for a maximum of 3 months.
- Photo of the health insurance participant (except for children under 6 years old) in cases where the participant does not have personal identification documents with photos issued by competent agencies or organizations, or a confirmation letter from the Commune Police or other documents with confirmation from the educational institution managing students, or other legal identification documents.
How should health insurance participants present their health insurance cards when going for medical examination and treatment?
According to the provisions of Clause 1, Article 15 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP, and Clause 2, Article 15 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP regarding procedures for medical examination and treatment covered by health insurance:

1. Health insurance participants must present a health insurance card with a photo when they go for medical examination and treatment; in case the health insurance card does not have a photo, they must present one of the following identification documents with a photo issued by competent agencies or organizations, or a confirmation letter from the Commune Police, or other documents with confirmation from the educational institution managing students, or other legal identification documents.
2. Children under 6 years old only need to present their health insurance card when going for medical examination and treatment. If the child has not been issued a health insurance card, a copy of the birth certificate or birth registration certificate must be presented; in case of immediate treatment after birth without a birth certificate, the head of the medical facility and the child's parent or guardian must sign the medical record to serve as the basis for payment according to Clause 1, Article 27 of this Decree and be responsible for the confirmation.
Thus, when going for medical examination and treatment, participants must present a health insurance card with a photo. In case the health insurance card does not have a photo, one of the following documents must be presented:
- Identification document with a photo issued by competent agencies or organizations;
- Confirmation letter from the Commune Police;
- Other documents with confirmation from the educational institution managing students;
- Other legal identification documents.
- For children under 6 years old going for medical examination and treatment, only the health insurance card needs to be presented. To be specific:
+ If the child has not been issued a health insurance card, a copy of the birth certificate or birth registration certificate must be presented;
