The Ministry of Education and Training has just published the reference questions for all subjects in the 2023 high school graduation examination.

Earlier, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), stated that if in 2022 the Ministry of Education and Training announced the exam schedule and reference questions for the high school graduation exam at the end of March, this year, the Ministry has expedited the schedule to announce it at the beginning of March.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chuong affirmed that all reference questions, including structure and format, are within the school curriculum. The content of the exam questions for all subjects is within the high school program, especially the 12th grade.

Based on the provisions of Article 3 of the Regulations on the high school graduation examination issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following is stipulated:

Examinations

Organize 05 exams, including: 03 independent exams which are Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Language; 01 combination exam in Natural Sciences (abbreviated as KHTN) comprising the component subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology; 01 combination exam in Social Sciences (abbreviated as KHXH) comprising the component subjects of History, Geography, Civic Education for candidates studying the general education program at the high school level or the component subjects of History, Geography for candidates studying the GDTX program at the high school level.

Thus, the 2023 national high school examination includes 05 exams:

- Mathematics, Literature, Foreign Language;

- 01 combination exam in Natural Sciences (abbreviated as KHTN) comprising the component subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology;

- 01 combination exam in Social Sciences (abbreviated as KHXH) comprising the component subjects of History, Geography, Civic Education for candidates studying the general education program at the high school level or the component subjects of History, Geography for candidates studying the GDTX program at the high school level.

Based on the provisions of Article 4 of the Regulations on the high school graduation examination issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following is stipulated:

1. Exam dates, schedules: As specified in the annual high school graduation examination organization guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.

2. Exam content: The content is within the high school program, mainly the 12th grade curriculum.

3. Exam format: Mathematics, Foreign Language, KHTN, and KHXH exams are conducted in a multiple-choice format (collectively referred to as multiple-choice exams); the Literature exam is in essay format (collectively referred to as essay exams).

4. Exam durations: Literature 120 minutes; Mathematics 90 minutes; Foreign Language 60 minutes; 50 minutes for each component subject of the KHTN and KHXH combination exams.

Currently, there is no information about changes to the high school graduation examination format. Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Training is consistent with maintaining the high school graduation examination format for 2023 similar to 2022.

The 2023 national high school examination will have two formats:

- Mathematics, Foreign Language, Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education) exams are conducted in a multiple-choice format (collectively referred to as multiple-choice exams);

- The Literature exam is in essay format (collectively referred to as essay exams).

How long is each exam?

Based on Article 4 of the Regulations on the high school graduation examination issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following is stipulated:

- English: 60 minutes;

- Combination exams: 50 minutes for each component subject.
