From January 1, 2025: What does the new structure of the driving license point recovery test include in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 3, Article 6 of Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA, specific regulations are set for the time and structure of the driving license point recovery test and the theoretical legal knowledge test results as follows:
[1] Persons taking the test with an A1 driving license
The test duration is 19 minutes. The test structure consists of 25 multiple-choice questions, each worth 01 point, with 01 critical question included. A score of 21/25 or higher is required. If the score is 21/25 or higher but the critical question is answered incorrectly, the result does not meet requirements.
[2] Persons taking the test with an A, B1 driving license
The test duration is 19 minutes. The test structure consists of 25 multiple-choice questions, each worth 01 point, with 01 critical question included. A score of 23/25 or higher is required. If the score is 23/25 or higher but the critical question is answered incorrectly, the result does not meet requirements.
[3] Persons taking the test with a B driving license
The test duration is 20 minutes. The test structure consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, each worth 01 point, with 01 critical question included. A score of 27/30 or higher is required. If the score is 27/30 or higher but the critical question is answered incorrectly, the result does not meet requirements.
[4] Persons taking the test with a C1 driving license
The test duration is 22 minutes. The test structure consists of 35 multiple-choice questions, each worth 01 point, with 01 critical question included. A score of 32/35 or higher is required. If the score is 32/35 or higher but the critical question is answered incorrectly, the result does not meet requirements.
[5] Persons taking the test with a C driving license
The test duration is 24 minutes. The test structure consists of 40 multiple-choice questions, each worth 01 point, with 01 critical question included. A score of 36/40 or higher is required. If the score is 36/40 or higher but the critical question is answered incorrectly, the result does not meet requirements.
[6] Persons taking the test with a D1, D2, D, BE, C1Q, CE, D1E, D2E, DE driving license
The test duration is 26 minutes. The test structure consists of 45 multiple-choice questions, each worth 01 point, with 01 critical question included. A score of 41/45 or higher is required. If the score is 41/45 or higher but the critical question is answered incorrectly, the result does not meet requirements.
Note: Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA takes effect from January 1, 2025.

What are regulations on successful test result for driving license point recovery in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Clause 5, Article 6 of Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA, the specific regulation on the successful test result for driving license point recovery is as follows:
[1] For cases where the motorcycle driving license holder has lost all points:
The license points can be recovered if the theoretical legal knowledge test results meet the requirements specified at points a, b Clause 3, Article 6 of Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA.
[2] For cases where the automobile driving license holder has lost all points:
The license points can be recovered if the results meet the requirements for both the theoretical legal knowledge test and the simulation test in accordance with points c, d, đ, e Clause 3 and Clause 4, Article 6 of Circular 65/2024/TT-BCA.
Notes on unmet requirements:
- Persons whose theoretical legal knowledge test result does not meet requirements will not be allowed to take the simulated legal knowledge test.
- Persons whose theoretical legal knowledge test result meets requirements but the simulated legal knowledge test does not meet requirements can retain their theoretical test result for one year from the date that they met the requirements.
- Persons whose test result does not meet requirements can register to retake the test after 07 working days from the end of the previous test.
What are the current fees for driving license tests in Vietnam?
Based on Section 3 of the Annex issued with Circular 37/2023/TT-BTC, the specific fees for driving license tests are as follows:
[1] For examination of driving tests for vehicle classes A1, A2, A3, A4:
- Theoretical test: 60,000 VND/time
- Practical test: 70,000 VND/time
[2] For examination of automobile driving tests (vehicle classes B1, B2, C, D, E, F):
- Theoretical test: 100,000 VND/time
- Practical test in closed circuit: 350,000 VND/time
- Practical test on public roads: 80,000 VND/time
- Automobile driving test simulated with traffic scenarios: 100,000 VND/time
