Which certificates allow candidates to be exempted from taking the foreign language exam in the National High School Graduation Exam in 2024 in Vietnam?

I will be taking the National High School Graduation Exam soon. I have already had an IELTS score of 8.0. I'm wondering if I will be exempted from taking the English exam in the National High School Graduation Exam in 2024. (Nhat Minh - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

Hello, Lawnet would like to provide the following answer:

On March 6, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 02/2024/TT-BGDDT amending and supplementing certain provisions of the Regulation of high school graduation exam issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, which was amended and supplemented by Circular 05/2021/TT-BGDDT and Circular 06/2023/TT-BGDDT. This Circular will take effect on April 22, 2024. Regarding the regulations on exemption from the Foreign Language Exam in the evaluation of high school graduation, the amendments and supplements are as follows:

1. Which certificates allow candidates to be exempted from taking the foreign language exam in the National High School Graduation Exam in 2024 in Vietnam?

Based on Article 35 of Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended by Clause 15 Article 1 of Circular 02/2024/TT-BGDDT), the regulations regarding exemption from the Foreign Language exam in the evaluation of high school graduation are as follows:

The language certificate must be valid until the exam registration.

- Candidates exempted from the Foreign Language exam will be awarded 10 points for this exam in the evaluation of high school graduation.

- Candidates who do not register for the exemption from the Foreign Language exam must take the exam and be evaluated for high school graduation, like candidates who are not exempt.

Holders of the following certificates are exempt from the Foreign Language Exam in the evaluation of high school graduation, as stipulated in the appendix to the Regulations on the High School Graduation Exam issued together with Circular 02/2024/TT-BGDDT.
