What are regulations on building the Vietnamese Language curriculum for grade 5 students?
Based on Section II of the appendix to the Literature curriculum issued along with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the construction of the Vietnamese language curriculum for grade 5 is as follows:
The Literature curriculum adheres to the basic regulations stated in the comprehensive curriculum, while emphasizing the following viewpoints:
[1] The curriculum is built on theoretical and practical foundations, updating research achievements in educational science, psychology, and language teaching methods; achievements in literature and linguistics research; achievements in Vietnamese literature through periods; experiences in constructing the Literature curriculum in Vietnam, especially from the early 21st century to the present, and international trends in curriculum development in general and the specific literature curriculum in recent years, especially in developed countries; practical social, educational conditions, economic conditions, and Vietnamese cultural traditions, especially the diversity of students in terms of regions, conditions, and learning capabilities.
[2] The curriculum focuses on training communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) as the main axis throughout all three educational levels to meet the competency-based orientation requirements of the curriculum and ensure consistency and continuity through all grade levels.
General foundational knowledge about Vietnamese language and literature is formed through teaching and learning activities in both reception and production of texts; directly serving the requirement of training reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
[3] The curriculum is constructed in an open-ended manner, reflected in the fact that it does not specify detailed content for teaching but only states the requirements to be met for reading, writing, speaking, and listening for each grade; specifies core essential knowledge about Vietnamese language, literature and some texts of significant importance and national literary heritage as mandatory content for all students nationwide.
[4] The curriculum both meets innovation requirements and emphasizes inheriting and promoting the strengths of the existing Literature curriculums, especially the current curriculum.
