The broadcasting and reporting on mass media about the National Funeral Ceremony in 2024 are stipulated in Article 9 of Decree 105/2012/ND-CP as follows:

Broadcasting and Reporting on Mass Media about the National Funeral Ceremony

1. Reporting Sad News

Before the official announcement from the Funeral Organizing Committee, mass media are only allowed to briefly report the death. After the formation of the Funeral Organizing Committee and the official announcement of the funeral arrangement, mass media are permitted to report sad news and publish articles introducing the deceased.

2. Reporting on Mass Media

a) The Nhan Dan Newspaper and central and local press agencies report on the National Funeral Ceremony, including: Announcements, list of the State Funeral Committee, Funeral Organizing Committee; biography, photos of the deceased; nationwide mourning ceremonies; announcements about the memorial service, funeral procession, burial ceremony, and thank you notes from the State Funeral Committee;

b) The Central Documentary and Science Film Studio records the memorial service, funeral procession, and burial ceremony. The Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam Television, Vietnam News Agency broadcast and live the memorial service, funeral procession, and burial ceremony.

According to the above regulation, only after the formation of the Funeral Organizing Committee and the official announcement of the funeral arrangement, mass media are permitted to report sad news and publish articles introducing the deceased.

Before that, mass media are only allowed to briefly report the death.

Information about the National Funeral Ceremony 2024 will be reported on mass media such as:

(1) The Nhan Dan Newspaper and central and local press agencies report on the National Funeral Ceremony, including:

- Announcements, list of the State Funeral Committee, Funeral Organizing Committee;

- Biography, photos of the deceased;

- Nationwide mourning ceremonies;

- Announcements about the memorial service, funeral procession, burial ceremony, and thank you notes from the State Funeral Committee.

(2) The Central Documentary and Science Film Studio records the memorial service, funeral procession, and burial ceremony.

The Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam Television, Vietnam News Agency broadcast and live the memorial service, funeral procession, and burial ceremony.

According to Article 11 Decree 105/2012/ND-CP, the location of the National Funeral Ceremony and burial is stipulated as follows:

Location of the National Funeral Ceremony and Burial

1. The National Funeral Ceremony is held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi (if held in Hanoi); the Funeral Hall of Military Hospital 175 or the Funeral Hall No. 25 Le Quy Don, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (if held in Ho Chi Minh City).

2. Burial at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi; Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery or cremation, electric burial, burial at hometown or other local cemeteries according to the family's wishes.

Thus, the location of the National Funeral Ceremony and burial is as follows:

- If held in Hanoi:

+ Location of the National Funeral Ceremony: The National Funeral Ceremony is held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi;

+ Burial Location: Burial at Mai Dich Cemetery, Hanoi;

- If held in Ho Chi Minh City

+ Location of the National Funeral Ceremony: The Funeral Hall of Military Hospital 175 or the Funeral Hall No. 25 Le Quy Don, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

However, the Funeral Hall No. 25 Le Quy Don, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City has ceased operations. Therefore, funeral activities are organized at the City Funeral Hall in An Lac Ward, Binh Tan District (according to Plan 5063/KH-UBND 2020 Download by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee).

+ Burial Location: Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery or cremation, electric burial, burial at hometown or other local cemeteries according to the family's wishes.

What are regulations on the force and means of service for the Funeral Ceremony in Vietnam?

According to Article 18 Decree 105/2012/ND-CP, the force and means of service for the funeral ceremony are specified as follows:

- The force serving the funeral is prepared by the Ministry of National Defense, including:

+ The force serving the memorial service: 04 (four) standing officers around the coffin at a distance of 1.5 m; 06 (six) soldiers with CKC rifles with bayonets standing outside at a distance of 0.7 m from the standing officers; 02 (two) honor guards at the entrance of the funeral hall; flower bearers; reception officers; military band serving the memorial service;

+ The force serving the funeral ceremony: 04 (four) standing officers at the four corners at a distance of 1.5 m from the coffin; 06 (six) soldiers with CKC rifles standing outside at a distance of 0.7 m from the standing officers; 02 (two) honor guards at the entrance of the funeral hall; 01 National Flag team; 01 Military Flag team; honor guards from three military branches (127 officers, soldiers), military band serving the funeral ceremony;

+ The force serving the burial ceremony: 01 (one) officer carrying the photo, 01 (one) officer carrying the medal pillow, 01 (one) officer wrapping the flag; a team of 01 officer and 12 (twelve) soldiers carrying the coffin; 07 (seven) soldiers preparing the hearse; honor guards from three military branches;

+ The force serving the burial: 27 (twenty-seven) soldiers serving as honor guards at the cemetery gate; 13 (thirteen) soldiers preparing the false grave, honor guards from three military branches, military band serving the burial.

- The means serving the funeral are prepared by the Ministry of National Defense, including: 01 command vehicle; 01 vehicle carrying the National Flag, photo, medal pillow; 01 vehicle carrying the Military Flag; 06 vehicles carrying the honor guards; 01 flower vehicle; 01 hearse (with a 122 mm howitzer towed at the back); 01 reserve vehicle; 02 communication vehicles, 01 ambulance.

- The coffin is covered with the National Flag, placed in a glass case on the hearse.
