Will the Judicial Academy of Vietnam enroll 2000 targets for lawyer training in 2024?
According to the Plan issued together with Decision 2329/QD-HVTP 2023, the enrollment target of the Judicial Academy of Vietnam in 2024 is as follows:
- Lawyer training: 2,000 people
- Notary training: 1,000 people
- Auctioneer training: 100 people
- Enforcer training: 150 people
- Joint training of judges, prosecutors and lawyers: 200 people
- Pilot joint training in civil judgment enforcers and bailiffs: 50 people
- Bailiff training: 100
Thus, in 2024, the Judicial Academy of Vietnam shall enroll 2000 targets for lawyer training

In 2024, what are the criteria of lawyers in Vietnam?
Under Article 10 of the 2006 Law on Lawyers as follows:
Criteria of lawyers
Vietnamese citizens who are loyal to the Fatherland, observe the Constitution and law, have good moral qualities, possess a law bachelor diploma, have been trained in legal profession, have gone through the probation of legal profession and have good health for law practice may become lawyers.
At the same time, based on Article 11 of the 2006 Law on Lawyers, the conditions for law practice in Vietnam are stipulated as follows:
Conditions for law practice
A person who meets all the criteria specified in Article 10 of this Law, if wishing to practice law, must possess a law practice certificate and join a bar association.
Thus, the criteria of lawyers in Vietnam are specified as follows:
- Vietnamese citizens who are loyal to the Fatherland, observe the Constitution and law, have good moral qualities, possess a law bachelor diploma, have been trained in the legal profession, have gone through the probation of the legal profession, and have good health for law practice.
Besides, a person who meets all the criteria specified above and wishes to act as a lawyer, must possess a law practice certificate and join a bar association.
At the same time, based on Article 12 of the 2006 Law on Lawyers (amended by Clause 4, Article 1 of the 2012 Law on Lawyers) as follows:
Training lawyers
1. Holders of bachelor’s degrees in law may take a lawyer course at an institution licensed to train lawyers.
2. A lawyer training course lasts for 12 months.
People that complete the lawyer course shall be issued with the Certificate of completing the lawyer course by the training institution.
3. The Government shall specify the requirements of lawyer training institutions.
4. The Minister of Justice shall specify a general program for lawyer training, and the recognition of lawyer training overseas.
Thus, a lawyer training course lasts for 12 months.

In the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Vietnamese Lawyers issued together with Decision 201/QD-HDLSTQ in 2019, the Code of Ethics and Conduct for Vietnamese Lawyers includes:
