According to Clause 2, Article 33, Regulations on High School Graduation Exams issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the deadline for submitting a re-evaluation request of the high school graduation exam is as follows:

2. The place where candidates register for the exam receives re-evaluation applications from candidates within 10 days from the date of the announcement of exam results and transfers the data of candidates with re-evaluation requests to the Exam Council. Within 15 days from the expiration date of receiving the re-evaluation applications, the Exam Council must announce and notify re-evaluation results to the candidates.

According to Official Dispatch 1277/BGDDT-QLCL 2024, after the 2024 high school graduation exam results are available, candidates who need to re-evaluate their scores can submit re-evaluation applications from July 17, 2024, to the end of July 26, 2024.

Therefore, the deadline for submitting re-evaluation applications is within 10 days from the date of the announcement of exam results. Candidates submit re-evaluation applications at the place where they registered for the exam.

Thus, the re-evaluation application deadline for the 2024 National High School Graduation Exam is from July 17, 2024, to the end of July 26, 2024.

According to Clause 6, Article 33, Regulations on High School Graduation Exams issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the re-evaluation of multiple-choice exams is carried out as follows:

6. The scores of the exam papers adjusted after re-evaluation are decided by the Head of the Re-evaluation Board. The Chair of the Exam Council updates the re-evaluated scores into the exam management software system according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET); reports, and sends the data to MOET (through the Quality Management Department).

Hence, the scores of high school graduation exam papers adjusted after re-evaluation are decided by the Head of the Re-evaluation Board. The Chair of the Exam Council updates the scores of the candidates after re-evaluation into the exam management software system according to the regulations of MOET; reports, and sends the data to MOET (through the Quality Management Department).

Note: The Exam Council prints and issues the Certificate of Exam Results after re-evaluation to candidates with adjusted scores; simultaneously, retrieves and destroys the previous Certificate of Exam Results before re-evaluation.

How will the 2024 high school graduation exam scores in Vietnam be rounded?

(1) For essay grading:

According to the regulations at point a, clause 1, Article 27, Regulations on High School Graduation Exams issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended by clause 12, Article 1 of Circular 05/2021/TT-BGDDT):

a) Grading according to the grading guidelines, answer keys, and grading scale of MOET; the papers are graded on a 10-point scale; the decimal scores of the total score of the entire paper are rounded to 2 decimal places; each essay paper is graded independently twice by two Graders from two different Grading Committees;

3. Grading: After completing the tasks specified in clause 2 of this Article, the Multiple-choice Grading Committee unseals the CD containing the multiple-choice grading data of MOET, records the unsealing process, and loads the grading data into the multiple-choice grading software under the supervision of the police and the Supervisory Committee; proceeds with grading, rounding to two decimal places for each paper and each subject of the composite exam; consistently uses exam codes, subject codes in data files as stipulated by MOET; during the processing, the Exam Council must promptly update and report to MOET (through the Quality Management Department).

For multiple-choice papers, the score is rounded to 2 decimal places for each exam paper and each subject of the composite exam.

(3) For re-evaluation results:

According to clause 4, Article 33 of the Regulations on High School Graduation Exams issued together with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT (amended by clause 17, Article 1 of Circular 06/2023/TT-BGDDT:

4. Grading re-evaluated essay papers: Each essay paper is re-evaluated by two Graders according to the regulations in Article 27 of these Regulations and must be marked with ink of a different color from the ink used previously on the candidate's exam paper. During the handling of re-evaluation tasks, there must be at least two members of the Essay Re-evaluation Board present. The results of the re-evaluation of essay papers are handled by the Secretary of the Exam Council as follows:

a) If the re-evaluation results of the two Graders are the same, that result will be taken as the re-evaluation score, and the exam paper is signed off by the two Graders who performed the re-evaluation;

b) If the re-evaluation results of the two Graders differ, the exam paper is assigned to the Head of the Essay Re-evaluation Board to organize a third re-evaluation by another Grader directly on the candidate’s exam papers with a different color ink;

c) If the re-evaluation results of two out of three Graders are the same, that result will be taken as the re-evaluation score. If the results of all three Graders differ, the Head of the Essay Re-evaluation Board will take the average of the three evaluations rounded to two decimal places as the re-evaluation score and sign off on it;

d) Exam papers with a re-evaluation score that differs from the initial scoring (previously announced) by 0.25 points or more will have the score adjusted. In cases where the re-evaluation score differs from the initial score by 0.5 points or more, a direct discussion must be organized between initial Graders and re-evaluation Graders (with minutes recorded). If any signs of malpractice are found, the Head of the Essay Re-evaluation Board must be reported for processing according to regulations.

Thus, for re-evaluation papers, if the results of the two out of three Graders are the same, that score will be taken as the re-evaluation score. If the results of all three Graders differ, the Head of the Essay Re-evaluation Board will take the average of the three evaluations rounded to two decimal places as the re-evaluation score.
