Vietnam: To add scope of professional practice for practitioners who are doctors

Specifically, according to Vietnam's Official Dispatch 787/BYT-KCB, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam proposes to the Department of Health to supplement the scope of professional activities for doctors who have been granted medical examination and treatment practice certificates (except traditional medicine doctors who follow the instructions in Vietnam's Official Dispatch 4018/BYT-YDCT) as follows:

1. Continue to grant additional professional activities to doctors with general or specialized professional scopes who have been granted medical examination and treatment practice certificates. After obtaining additional specialized degrees I and II, and if the practitioner has an application as prescribed, the scope of specialized professional activities shall be supplemented in accordance with the trained professional diploma.

2. Continue to grant additional scope of professional activities to doctors as prescribed in Clause 01, Article 11 of Vietnam's Decree 155/2016/ND-CP.

3. For professional techniques belonging to a specialty other than the one for which the practitioner has been granted, a practitioner may perform techniques after obtaining a certificate or certificate of such specialized technical training issued by a lawful training institution; being permitted in writing by the person in charge of professional and technical expertise of the medical examination and treatment facility; and without supplementing the scope of professional activities as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 11 of Decree 155/2016/ND-CP.
