05 cases of adjusting the original cost of road traffic infrastructure assets in Vietnam

On October 31, 2024, the Minister of Finance of Vietnam issued Circular 74/2024/TT-BTC stipulating management policies, depreciation calculation of road traffic infrastructure assets, and providing guidance on the declaration and reporting of road traffic infrastructure assets.

05 cases of adjusting the original cost of road traffic infrastructure assets in Vietnam

From December 15, 2024, there will be 05 cases of adjustment in the original cost of road traffic infrastructure assets in Vietnam, including:

(1) Reassessment of the value of road traffic infrastructure assets during inventory as per the decision of the competent authority or person.

(2) Investment in upgrading and expanding road traffic infrastructure assets according to a project approved by the competent authority or person (including cases where the project invests in constructing, upgrading, renovating, and expanding other assets, but includes investment content in existing road traffic infrastructure assets, as well as cases where the project investor for upgrading, renovating, and expanding assets is not the managing agency of the assets).

(3) Dismantling one or several components of the road traffic infrastructure assets (in cases where the value of the dismantled asset components is accounted for in the original cost of the assets), except for dismantling for replacement during maintenance works.

(4) Installing additional components to the road traffic infrastructure assets, except for installations for replacement during maintenance works.

(5) Road traffic infrastructure assets being partially lost or severely damaged due to natural disasters, force majeure incidents, or other sudden impacts, excluding cases where assets are restored following road maintenance laws or restored through insurance or compensation for damage from relevant organizations or individuals.
