The act of concealing the fact that he/she has been infectious with Covid-19 or someone else has been infectious with Covid-19 is considered a violation according to Decree No. 176/2013/ND-CP of Vietnam’s Government on penalties for administrative violations against medical laws.
Those who are infected with Covid-19 but deliberately conceal their condition shall be fined from VND 500,000 to VND 1,000,000.
Specifically, according to Point a Clause 2 Article 6 of Decree No. 176/2013/ND-CP of Vietnam’s Government:
2. One of the following violations shall be liable to a fine of from VND 500,000 to VND 1,000,000:
a) Concealment of the development of group A diseases of oneself or of other people;
Previously, on April 01, 2020, the Prime Minister of Vietnam signed Decision No. 447/QĐ-TTg on declaration of Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam, which determined that Covid-19 is a Group A infectious disease, nationwide.
Thus, according to the above regulations, the act of concealing the fact that one is infected with Covid-19 will be subject to a maximum fine of VND 1,000,000.
Moreover, Decree No. 176/2013/ND-CP also specifies that the failure to report sufferers of group A diseases shall also be liable to a warning or a fine of from VND 200,000 to VND 500,000.
Faced with the complicated developments of the epidemic, people should follow the recommendations of the authorities and comply with the law to both protect their health and not violate the law.
