Vietnam: Operating a gaming center near schools shall be fined up to VND 5 million

This is a penalty specified in Decree No. 158/2013/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government on penalties for administrative violations against regulations on culture, sports, tourism, and advertisement, amended by Decree No. 28/2017/NĐ-CP.

According to Decree No. 28/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, facilities opening a gaming center exceeding the certain distance as prescribed from an elementary, lower secondary or upper secondary school shall be imposed a fine of from VND 3,000,000  to VND 5.000.000.

Similarly, this fine shall also be imposed for one of the following violations:

- Opening a karaoke box or a dance club exceeding the certain distance from a school, hospital, a religious building, historic and cultural remains, or a regulatory agency;

- Opening shops, restaurants, hotels, stations that encroach the remain campus and/or obstruct traffic in the festival area;

- Opening a gaming center not in accordance with statutory time;

- Failure to provide adequate lighting in the dance club or karaoke box.
