Currently, the act of families disposing of garbage indiscriminately and not in designated areas is quite common and causes severe environmental pollution. However, they are unaware that this behavior can be fined up to a month's salary.

To be specific, according to Clause 2, Article 7 of Decree 167/2013/ND-CP, individuals committing any of the following acts shall be fined between 1,000,000 VND and 2,000,000 VND:
- Disposing of or throwing waste, dirt, or other substances that contaminate others' houses, offices, workplaces, production, or business venues;- Arbitrarily burning garbage, waste, toxic substances, or other dangerous substances in residential areas or public places;- Dumping garbage, waste, or any other objects into manholes, public drainage systems, pavements, or roadways;- Leaving garbage, waste, animal carcasses, or any other objects that pollute public places, water taps, wells, ponds, lagoons, and lakes used daily by people, causing unsanitary conditions.
Additionally, according to Clause 1, Article 20 of Decree 155/2016/ND-CP, the penalties for improper waste disposal vary depending on the location as follows:
- A fine ranging from 500,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND for acts of discarding, discharging, or leaving cigarette ends and butts in improper places in residential areas, commercial, service areas, or public places.- A fine ranging from 3,000,000 VND to 5,000,000 VND for acts of discarding, discharging, or leaving household waste in improper places in residential areas, commercial, service areas, or public places.- A fine ranging from 5,000,000 VND to 7,000,000 VND for acts of discarding, discharging household waste on pavements, streets, into urban sewer systems, or stormwater drainage systems in urban areas.
