Based on Decision 1668/QD-TTg in 2008, the Prime Minister decided that April 19th is the Day of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture.

The Day of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture aims to honor the advanced Vietnamese culture with a strong national identity.

In addition, this event is also used to promote and encourage ethnic groups in the Vietnamese community to understand each other, cooperate and develop the economy, culture, and society together.

From there, it contributes to the development of the economy, takes care of material and spiritual life, improves the intellectual level of the people, and preserves and promotes the cultural identity, language, writing, and good traditions of the ethnic groups.

In 2024, April 19th will fall on a Friday, which is the 11th day of the 3rd lunar month.

- Students of ethnic minority groups with a very small population and in areas with socio-economic difficulties and exceptional socioeconomic difficulties are exempt from school fees at all educational levels and in all disciplines.

- To train human resources and provide vocational training for ethnic minority groups suitable to the characteristics of each area, meeting industrialization, modernization and international integration requirements.

- To include languages, scripts and fine cultural traditions of ethnic minority groups into curricula of general schools, boarding and semi-boarding ethnic minority schools, continuing education centers, community learning centers. vocational schools, professional secondary schools, colleges and universities suitable to ethnic minority areas.

- Administrations of localities which have ethnic minority students passing university and college entrance exams or admitted under designated enrollment shall receive these students after they graduate and assign jobs appropriate to their majors.

Are acts of discriminating the unity of ethnic minority groups prohibited?

Based on Clause 1 of Article 7 of Decree 05/2011/ND-CP, the prohibited acts include:

Article 7. Prohibited acts

The following acts are prohibited:

1. Stigmatizing, discriminating, dividing and undermining the unity of ethnic minority groups.
