How many years of imprisonment are imposed on the act of betting on cockfighting valued at 50 million VND or more according to the law in Vietnam?

According to the provisions of Article 321 of the Criminal Code 2015 (amended and supplemented 2017) regarding the specific penalty levels for the crime of gambling:

- Anyone who illegally gambles in any form and wins or loses money or valuables valued from 5,000,000 VND to under 50,000,000 VND or under 5,000,000 VND but has been administratively fined for this act or the act specified in Article 322 of this Code or has been convicted of this crime or the crime specified in Article 322 of the Criminal Code 2015, has not had their criminal record expunged and continues to violate, shall be fined from 20,000,000 VND to 100,000,000 VND, community sentence for up to 3 years, or imprisonment from 6 months to 3 years.

- If the crime falls under one of the following cases, the offender shall be imprisoned from 3 years to 7 years:

+ Of a professional nature;

+ Money or goods used for gambling valued at 50,000,000 VND or more;

+ Using the internet, computer networks, telecommunications networks, electronic means to commit the crime;

+ Dangerous recidivism.

- The offender may also be fined from 10,000,000 VND to 50,000,000 VND.

Thus, a person engaged in cockfighting with money bets valued at 50 million VND or more shall be imprisoned from 3 to 7 years. Additionally, depending on the severity of the violation, the offender may also be fined from 10 million to 50 million VND.
