Under Section 5, Appendix of the General education program in Literature issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, learning outcomes required for writing practice for 4th-grade students in Vietnam include:

- Write a narrative essay recounting an event witnessed (seen or watched) or participated in and share thoughts and feelings about it.

- Write an essay retelling a story read or heard, or write an imaginary paragraph based on a story read or heard.

- Write a descriptive essay about animals or plants; use personification and words that highlight the distinguishing features of the subject being described.

- Write a paragraph expressing personal feelings about a character in literature or a person close and dear.

- Write a short paragraph explaining why you like a story that has been read or heard.

- Write a short text guiding the steps to perform a task or use a product, consisting of 2-3 steps.

- Write a group discussion report, follow a form, or write a letter to family or friends.

What are the 03 objectives when studying 4th-grade Vietnamese Language?

The Vietnamese Language subject in grades 1-5 refers to Literature at the lower and upper secondary levels.

According to Section 3, Appendix of the General Education Program for Literature issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, there are 3 general objectives when studying Literature as follows:

{1} Help students continue to develop the good qualities formed in elementary school; enhance and expand development requirements for qualities with specific manifestations such as:

+ Pride in national history and literature;

+ Having dreams and aspirations, possessing a spirit of self-learning and self-respect,

+ Having a sense of citizenship, respecting the law.

{2} Continue to develop general competencies, linguistic competencies, literary competencies formed in elementary school with higher requirements; develop linguistic competencies with the requirements:

+ Distinguish different types of literary, argumentative, and informational texts;

+ Understand both explicit and implicit content of the different types of texts;

+ Write coherent, logical narrative, descriptive, expressive, argumentative, explanatory, and practical essays, according to a proper process with a combination of different expressive methods;

+ Speak understandably and logically; have a confident attitude suitable for the communication context; listen with an appropriate attitude.

{3} Develop literary competencies with the requirements:

+ Distinguish different genres such as stories, poems, memoirs, drama scripts in literature, and some specific sub-genres;

+ Recognize the characteristics of literary language, recognize and analyze the effects of formal elements and artistic methods associated with each literary genre;

+ Recognize the expressive value, cognitive value, aesthetic value; analyze imagery, content, and form of literary works;

+ Be able to create some products with literary characteristics.
