Characteristics of the subject
Geographical education is implemented at all levels of general education. In elementary and middle school, geographical education content is integrated within the History and Geography subject; in high school, Geography is a subject within the social sciences group chosen according to students' preferences and career orientation.
Geography is simultaneously a social science (Socioeconomic Geography) and a natural science (Physical Geography), helping students acquire basic geographic knowledge, understand related professions, and apply geographic knowledge in life; it also reinforces and expands the core general knowledge and skills established during the basic education phase, laying a solid foundation for students to continue in geographic-related fields.
In Grade 11, Geography is a subject within the social sciences group, chosen according to students' preferences and career orientation.
What is the objective of the Geography program for grade 11 in Vietnam?
According to Section 3 of the General Education Geography Curriculum issued alongside Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, built on a foundation of basic knowledge and educational methods that emphasize proactive, positive, and creative activities from students, the Grade 11 Geography program aims to help students develop geographic competency—a manifestation of scientific competency;
