What is the Database Administration?

According to the regulations in Subsection 1, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations on minimum required knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college level for sectors and industries in the field of computing and information technology (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) issued along with Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stated that:

Database Administration at the college level is a profession that involves designing, operating, maintaining, and repairing an organization's database system to always meet the information access needs of users, fulfilling level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Database Administrators can work at software development enterprises (as system designers and developers), or other enterprises or organizations that use databases for management and business purposes (as operators, maintainers, and repairers).

The minimum knowledge volume for the Database Administration industry is: 2,190 hours (equivalent to 85 credits).

What are working positions for college graduates in database administration in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 5, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations issued along with Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, college Database Administration graduates can work in the following positions:

- Customer service- Database system analysis and design- Software system administration- Database administration- Database System supervision and security

What are skill requirements for college graduates in database administration in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 3, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations issued along with Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the skill requirements for college Database Administration students are as follows:

- Able to use basic information technology as regulated;

- Able to determine the requirements of the database system;

- Able to develop a database system development plan;

- Able to analyze the database system;

- Proficient in designing database systems;

- Proficient in installing database management software;

- Able to accurately configure the database system;

- Able to optimize database system performance;

- Able to manage database system security;

- Able to perform system maintenance;

- Able to secure the database system;

- Able to upgrade the database system;

- Able to build a test data set and correct database system errors;

- Able to integrate database systems;

- Able to perform network system recovery and backup tasks;

- Able to recover data when network system issues occur ensuring system availability;

- Able to maintain, repair, and upgrade both software and hardware for the network system;- Able to develop simple applications on the network system;

- Able to manage teams, oversee medium to small information technology systems;

- Able to use basic information technology as regulated; utilize and apply information technology in professional tasks;

- Able to use basic foreign language skills, achieving level 2/6 in the Vietnam foreign language competency framework; able to apply foreign language skills in professional tasks.

What are the rnowledge requirements for college graduates in database administration in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 2, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations issued along with Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the knowledge requirements for college Database Administration students are as follows:

- Able to present basic knowledge about computers and computer networks;

- Able to describe specialized Information Technology applications and products;

- Able to explain principles and methods for analyzing, designing, operating, and supervising database systems;

- Able to analyze and assess data security and confidentiality levels;

- Able to present basic knowledge about developing applications on networks;

- Able to analyze and list basic network system issues;

- Able to identify system approach methods and environment development methods;

- Able to list database system debugging steps;

- Able to specify shift handover procedures and job log entries;

- Able to identify occupational safety standards;

- Able to present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as regulated.

What is level of autonomy and responsibility for college graduates in database administration in Vietnam?

According to Subsection 4, Section A, Part 9 of the Regulations issued along with Circular 44/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the level of autonomy and responsibility of college Database Administration students after graduation is as follows:

- Perform work with ethics, a sense of responsibility, civic responsibility, proper professional motivation, respect for copyrights, intellectual property laws in software application, diligence, creativity in work, organizational discipline, and respect for the rules of organizations and enterprises;

-Creative problem-solving skills in work. Able to adapt to different working environments (domestic enterprises, foreign enterprises);

- Compliance with the laws and policies of the state;

- Responsibility for their own work results, and those of the group, to employers, organizations, and enterprises;- Solve complex work problems in changing conditions;

- Give minimal guidance and supervision to subordinates in accomplishing specific tasks;

- Evaluate product quality post-completion and assess the performance results of group members.
