1. In case the requester for marriage registration is working, studying, or temporarily residing abroad, they must submit a certificate of marital status issued by the Vietnamese diplomatic representative office or consular representative office abroad (hereinafter referred to as the representative agency).

Conditions for marriage

1. A man and a woman getting married must meet the following conditions:

a) The man must be at least 20 years old and the woman must be at least 18 years old;

b) The marriage must be voluntarily decided by the man and woman;

c) They must not be people who have lost the capacity for civil acts;

d) The marriage must not fall into one of the prohibited cases of marriage as prescribed in Points a, b, c, and d, Clause 2, Article 5 of this Law.

+ Demanding property in marriage;

+ Coerced divorce, deceived divorce, obstructed divorce;

+ Performing childbirth by assisted reproductive techniques for commercial purposes, surrogacy for commercial purposes, sex selection, asexual reproduction;

+ Domestic violence;

+ Exploiting the exercise of marriage and family rights to buy and sell people, exploit labor, sexually abuse, or other acts for profit.

- All violations of marriage and family law must be strictly handled in accordance with the law.

Agencies, organizations, and individuals have the right to request courts or other competent agencies to promptly apply measures to prevent and handle those who violate marriage and family law.

- The dignity, honor, reputation, personal secrets, and other private rights of the parties are respected and protected during the resolution of marriage and family issues.
