Which orders are students who win a gold medal in the International Olympiad in Vietnam awarded?
Pursuant to Article 3 of Decree 110/2020/ND-CP:
Award Criteria
1. Award the First-Class Labor Order to students who achieve one of the following accomplishments:
a) Winning a Gold Medal in international Olympiads for subjects twice in a row or winning first place twice in a row in international science and technology competitions;
b) Winning a Gold Medal in the world skills competition.
2. Award the Second-Class Labor Order to students who achieve one of the following accomplishments:
a) Winning a Gold Medal in international Olympiads for subjects or first place in international science and technology competitions;
b) Winning a Silver Medal in the world skills competition or a Gold Medal in the Asian skills competition.
3. Award the Third-Class Labor Order to students who achieve one of the following accomplishments:
a) Winning a Silver Medal in international Olympiads for subjects or second place in international science and technology competitions or a Gold Medal in the Asian Olympiads for subjects;
b) Winning a Bronze Medal in the world skills competition or a Silver Medal in the Asian skills competition.
4. Award the Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam to students who achieve one of the following accomplishments:
a) Winning a Bronze Medal in international Olympiads for subjects or third place in international science and technology competitions or a Silver Medal in the Asian Olympiads for subjects;
b) Winning a Bronze Medal in the Asian skills competition or a Gold Medal in the Southeast Asian skills competition.

Students who win an international Olympic gold medal will be awarded the following medals:
- When a student wins an international Olympic gold medal, they will be awarded the Second-Class Labor Order.
- If a student wins consecutive international Olympic gold medals twice, they will be awarded the First-Class Labor Order.

According to Article 55 of Decree 98/2023/ND-CP,:
Reward amounts for various Orders
1. Individuals awarded or posthumously awarded various medals will receive Certificates, frames, Orders, and accompanying reward money as follows:

e) "First-Class Labor Order," "First-Class Victory Order," "First-Class Defending the Fatherland Order": 9.0 times the statutory pay rate;
g) "Second-Class Labor Order," "Second-Class Victory Order," "Second-Class Defending the Fatherland Order," "Great National Unity Order": 7.5 times the statutory pay rate;

According to Article 3 of Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, the statutory pay rate is 2,340,000 VND/month.
Students who win an international Olympic gold medal are awarded the following amounts:
- Winning an international Olympic gold medal once: 17,550,000 VND
- Winning consecutive international Olympic gold medals twice: 21,060,000 VND
Can students who win international Olympic gold medals continue to participate in the selection exam for the Olympic team in Vietnam?
According to Article 4 of the National Excellent Student Examination Regulation issued with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, the Olympic team students are selected as follows:
Eligibility to participate
1. For the national excellent student exam:
a) Upper secondary school students, who have good conduct (or equivalent) and good academic performance (or equivalent) in the semester (or academic year) preceding the exam, and are selected into the team of the examination unit;
b) Each candidate is allowed to participate in only one subject exam per academic year.
2. For the Olympic team selection exam:
Upper secondary school students who fall under one of the following categories:
a) Selected by the Ministry of Education and Training from students who have won awards in the national excellent student exam in the same academic year based on descending order of exam scores, ensuring the number of selected students does not exceed eight (08) times the number of students needed for the national team to participate in international Olympiads for that subject;
b) Not participating in the national excellent student exam in the same academic year, but having been a member of the national team for regional Olympiads; or a member of the national team for international Olympiads in the previous academic year.
Therefore, upper secondary school students who are in the Olympic team can be selected from those still in upper secondary school and have been members of the national team for international Olympiads in the preceding academic year.
If the student is still in upper secondary school, they can continue to participate in the selection exam for the Olympic team in the subsequent academic year after winning an international Olympic gold medal.
