Based on Sub-section 5, Section A, Part 5 of the Regulations on Minimum Knowledge Volume, Competency Requirements for learners after graduating from intermediate level and associate degree level across architectural engineering, construction, mechanics, electricity, electronics, communication, and chemical engineering fields (hereinafter referred to as "Regulations") promulgated with Circular 45/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, graduates with an associate degree in automotive engineering technology can pursue the following careers:
- Car maintenance;
- Engine repair;
- Suspension, steering, brake, and powertrain repair;
- Car electrical system repair;
- Product quality inspection.

What is the associate degree in automotive engineering technology in Vietnam?
According to Sub-section 1, Section A, Part 5 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 45/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the associate degree in automotive engineering technology involves undertaking tasks related to the maintenance and repair of various types of cars, ensuring compliance with procedures and technical requirements, and meeting Level 5 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
Graduates in "Automotive Engineering Technology" can work at garages, car repair shops, automobile service centers, automotive dealerships and parts businesses, automobile assembly plants, spare parts manufacturers, transportation companies, or engage in practical teaching at vocational training institutions for car repair.
To pursue a career in "Automotive Engineering Technology," learners must possess good health, professional ethics, sufficient knowledge, and specialized skills to meet job requirements upon graduation.
Furthermore, they must continually study and innovate to enhance their professional skills, apply information technology, communicate in foreign languages, expand social knowledge, develop meticulousness, clarity, and work consciousness, and nurture a passion for their profession.
Minimum knowledge volume: 2,500 hours (equivalent to 75 credits).
What are the skill and knowledge requirements for students in the associate degree in automotive engineering technology in Vietnam?
Based on Sub-sections 2 and 3, Section A, Part 5 of the Regulations issued with Circular 45/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the knowledge and skills requirements for students in the associate degree in automotive engineering technology are as follows:
- Knowledge
+ Explain basic knowledge of electricity – electronics, applied mechanics, technical drawing, mechanical materials, pneumatics – hydraulics for understanding specialized knowledge in automotive engineering technology;
+ Explain the structure and operating principles of systems on engines, suspension, steering, brakes, powertrains, and car electrical systems;
+ Explain maintenance procedures for systems on engines, suspension, steering, brakes, powertrains, and car electrical systems;
+ Recognize and explain the operation of equipment and tools used in the specialized field;+ Diagnose and identify car defects;
+ Analyze the causes of defects in engine systems, suspension, steering, brakes, powertrains, and car electrical systems;
+ Explain repair methods and technologies for cars;
+ Explain the operational and inspection procedures for cars;
+ Describe methods to calibrate working parameters of systems on cars, ensuring compliance with manufacturer’s specifications;
+ Incorporate and transfer new technologies in the automotive field;
+ Explain basic knowledge of politics, culture, society, law, national defense, physical education as prescribed.

+ Maintain cars according to procedures, ensuring the specifications and technical requirements of the manufacturer;
+ Correctly perform inspection procedures and diagnose car technical conditions;
+ Accurately predict car defects;
+ Skillfully disassemble and assemble details, structures, and systems on cars;
+ Correctly conduct repairs as per procedures, norms ensuring technical requirements;
+ Develop plans for repair organization and manage work appropriate to working conditions;
+ Proficiently use equipment and tools for specialized field;
+ Implement occupational safety measures, fire prevention and industrial hygiene;
+ Utilize basic information technology as prescribed; exploiting, processing, and applying IT in job specialties;
+ Use basic foreign language, achieving level 2/6 in the Vietnam Foreign Language Competency Framework; applying foreign language in job specialties.
